That golden light is called a "Halo". But I dont think people could literally see a light around people's heads--but I could be wrong since I wasnt there..But Light is a symbol of God'd guidance, Purity, and Truth. Just like if you ever buy an old-fashioned spanish candle--there's a drawing on the front of Jesus with light coming out his Heart--it means he had a pure heart.

This is actually a common theme in both western and eastern religious depictations, normally an artists impression.
To buddhists, taoists, and the like it was a sign of enlightenment, whereas to christians it was a sign of a person's divine nature.
It is also sometimes induced by cult leaders using trance & suggestion techniques without the other person realising it to lure them into their trap. Cult experts can demonstrate this for you.

There is a straightforward answer to this question,in biblical times the roads and pavements were all bumpy, and all sorts of things kept falling off their small wheelbarrows,so it made perfectly good sense to carry things like goldfish bowls on your head.

Aurora, the invisible halo. You can see this in and out of physical and sub conscious experiences. Young people are able to have out of body travels, this disappears as you grow older and less capable of open thought.

They are halo's they originate from the worship of the sun god. Religions incorporated it because it looks angelic. It was something that artists added to give the look of innocence.
