I know many Black Catholics.
But I'm not wise enough to answer this question.
Keep the faith.
With love in Christ.

I think black Baptists are the majority of black Christians in the United States. So the majority wonders at why some opt for other choices.

It's difficult for any Protestants to understand Catholic rituals. Protestants generally prefer the spiritual faith involved in worshipping God, not the routins of a Catholic performance.

Protestantism has a long (although not universal) tradition of deliberate ignorance and enmity toward the Catholic Church. Many children are told that Catholics worship Mary and the Pope. It's hard to overcome that prejudice when it's so deeply ingrained.

Seeing someone you know do something different and foreign to your own culture and beliefs can be uncomfortable. It can seem like the life you lead is not "good enough" for the person changing and that can seem threatening.
It can also depend on how you are presenting this change or yourself to these people. If you do it in a defensive manner, they will in turn become defensive. Don't feel the need to defend your beliefs. Simply live them.

There is so much misinformation about the Catholic church that they might think you are into a devil worshiping cult. Take time and explain your faith to them. Truth conquers ignorance.

Because the pick and choose from the bible. They refuse to acknowlege the book of james regarding faith and works, they refuse to acknowledge the authority of peter, and hence the church, as acknowledged by thie bible, and they refuse to understand the concept behind heavnly grace.

You have free-will, and are free to choose the religion you believe in most strongly. It is not up to others to judge you on a religious basis.
