weak and turning to religion as a crutch?
(Notice I haven't given my opinion for you idiots who seem to read something into every question. I'm simply asking because my brother-in-law makes this claim.)

This is after all a Religion and SPIRITUALITY section.

Does christianity have a monopoly on spirtuality ?

Is it that they don't like their cosy little belief system to be challenged ?

If you took the time to research the origins of Halloween, you'd see that it isn't what you have been brought up to believe. With that said, here is my question(s)....
Why do so many Christians have the concept that Halloween is an "evil" holiday? Do you simply accept this from what you hear?

Why on the Mormon "bible" does it say, "Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints," when they follow the teachings of Joseph Smith?

Do you believe this is to deceive?

What are your thoughts on this statement?

I see it all the time especially on here those two groups "arguing". I don't want to be attacked or hated so I'll just leave my faith or lack thereof out of it, but I'd like to hear it from both sides. Ding Ding.

I don't understand, how can a person be Christian-Catholic? A person can only be one, either you're a Christian or you're a Catholic, you can't be both!

How many believe this?

How many disagree? Why?

Ok. So Ive just sort of been going back and forth about this. And I mostly just want good advice in it.

I just feel like my life is going nowhere. Nowhere that I want it to anyway. Its like I can pretend that it gets better, or more like get my hopes up when it does for a while. But Im just going in circles. So how should I look at it. Is this just how God wants it for me right now. Like is there some other reason it sucks. Or is it me. Am I the one who needs to take action!?? I guess if you are more religious I would rather here from your point of view. But what do you think!?? Is it up to God or me!??

I am a Christian, (Catholic to be exact), but I do not accept all the dogma, because some of it is simply silly. For example, the teaching that the only way that we can be saved is to accept and acknowledge Christ to be our Savior. In other words, no matter how good and compassionate a life you lead, unless you accept and acknowledge Christ to be your savior, you are doomed! Please tell me that this isn't so. For example,

1. What happens to the baby who lives only 1 hour after it is born, then dies without having accepted Jesus?

2. What happens to the mentally retarded who do not have the ability to even understand what this is all about, and dies without accepting Jesus?

3. What happens to the child who is born in a village deep in the mountains of Indonesia where the only faith is the Muslim faith, and who dies without even having heard of Jesus?

Just can't see these people not being saved, if they have otherwise lived a good and humanitarian life. What do you say?

I mean, I'm there to listen to the word of God, not be instructed how to exercise my voting rights. Maybe, I missed it somewhere in the readings.... Did God instruct us on how to vote? What political party to be a part of? (I'm registered as an Independent by the way)

I believe in God - creator of all things.
(God created man in his own image...I have heard different interpretations of this but for myself, looking at the advancements of science, and the old saying History repeats itself. I think our creator could have been very similar to us.)
I believe in Jesus -the master and teacher of life.
I believe when we die our souls to be revealed as fruitfull or ruined, and be judged worthy of continued existence or annihilation.
I do not trust or believe in the religions created by man.
Man has been proven, in the past, to manipulate and interpret the Holy Scriptures to suit his own agenda.
Usually, greed or power of influence over the masses.
