Catholics think (like many other branches in Christianity) they are the original believers. They actually are not but who's counting. 'The church' was actually an invention of a man that never met Jesus.
Christianity is a name for all that follow Christ. Though many Christians don't agree on other believers being Christians too as some 'details' differ. That's why there are so many churches.
Though some may disagree: Catholics are people too... erm, Christians.

Catholics are Christians in fact what Jesus said in John 3:16 kinda says it all. I believe anyone who believes that Jesus is (not was) the son of the living God is a christian. Now, you do have some denominations that have a twist on things but at the time of judgment time that will be delt with. The problem i have with the catholic religion is that confessing to a priest and getting repentance , why do that when you can go to Jesus himself? Just a thought.

Anyone who professes their belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ is a Christian. Catholics are the original Christians and the reasons for the prominence of Mary and other saints is that the original Christians (Apostle Peter and Paul, e.g.) wanted to incorporate the pagan rituals into the religion so as to appeal to the masses and grow the religion more readily--ever wonder why Christmas is celebrated in December near the time of Winter Solstice and Easter at the Spring Equinox?
Christians come in many religious forms: Catholic, Protestant, Baptist, Mormon, etc.
I think a follow-up question to yours might be: why do Christians have such a hard time accepting one another? Why quibble over who is a Christian and who is not? Why not love thy neighbors and learn from them?

Catholics are Christian. The first two official Christian Churches were the Roman Catholics and Greek Orthodox. Later came the Protestants and other branches that also call themselves Christian while slandering the Catholics. Anyone that worships Jesus Christ is a Christian. Period.

Just because you belong to a denomination - or were raised in a church - like many catholics - doesn't make you a Christian. Just like a "Baptist" isn't necessarily a Christian.
A Christian is a person who admits they are a sinner and that the only way to be forgiven is to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal savior.
Pretty simple steps..... Hear the Word, Believe that Jesus is God and He Died for YOUR sins, Confess your sins and repent from your ways.
So, a catholic could have done all this, and yes, is a Christian.

Catholics ARE Christians. The word "Catholic" means universal. It comes from the early church where all of the believers in Jesus Christ were all under the "universal" or "catholic" faith. This was well before there we're so many denominations, there only existed one church, the Catholic Church.

Catholics are Christians, as in they believe in Jesus as Christ. Generally speaking, Christians are divided into two major groups: Catholic and Protestant. There are some major differences, but we all believe Jesus is the Christ, Son of the Living God.

Being a Christian is not a religion. Being of the Catholic faith is a religion. But you can be a christian and be of the catholic faith because you have been baptized and you firmly believe that Christ died so that we could be forgiven for our sins. Read the bible.
