Last Sunday, the Gospel was the one about the ten bridesmaids. The five good bridesmaids remembered to take plenty of oil for their lamps; five bad bridesmaids did not.

The priest at our church is always very fiery and his sermons always end on a high note.

Last Sunday the priest ended with...

"Where would you rather be? In the light with the five good bridesmaids or in the dark with the five bad bridesmaids?"

I wasn't the only one who got it wrong! Bwaahahaha

I didn't want to get into a debate, and still don't, but here are some comments for those who wanted feedback on the original thread ( http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ak9pHdQ7PhvrT0sFAOStpebzy6IX?qid=20060713112319AAtzKKl ):

a) I am certainly not jealous of not being a christian. far from it.

b) Can't you read "SHORT REPLIES", don't quote half the book of acts for me (and I read it already!)

c) We believe it is fairly clear that G-d wants the sabbath on saturday. However, I don't even care about the debate. the point is that that is what jews believe. That is different from what christians believe and therefore my point remains.

d) let me emphasize, even if we're wrong (which we're not), one would still have to recognize that we're different. My intention was not to debate "who's right", just to show that we're different.

This question is to the Christian, Muslim, Jew, Mormon, Atheist/Agnostic, ALL!

What is your absolute belief, your foundation that all other truth is based upon.

It might be God, Jesus, the Bible, book of Mormon, Science, influence of family etc.

and why!

I think this might be helpful to understand why we believe what we believe and stand for.

SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY!!!

Don't make a fool of yourself.

Psalm 82 verse one says: "God stands in the congregation of the mighty; He judges among the gods."

Actually the entire Psalm is very confusing to me, it's almost like a prophecy to the coming of Christ. Does any one know the meaning?

If you read the Bible you see that Jesus was extremely liberal in his teachings, give your money the poor, easier for camel to get through the eye of a needle than a rich man to get to heaven, etc. Further Jesus was clear about loving one's enemies and leaving judgement to God. So what are we to think of the many conservative Christians apparently full of hate bashing liberals and anyone else who thinks differently than them?

Original sin came about because Adam and Eve took what was obviously bait. They made up their own minds for once in an un-slavelike manner and thus mankind was doomed for having a "forefather" (and foremother) who were not satisfied with being dumb animals.

God, referred to as Jesus' father and arguably his other evil schizophrenic personality, told him to die in agony or the world's entire population is going to get torched for failing a test of perfection that can't be passed and is supposedly our fault.

Don’t you love the diversity in life, here in the internet, among us? The differences between groups of people down to each individual? I just learned to appreciate that when I answered this question “What is the saddest (as in geekiest) question you have ever read and answered?”

And this was my answer:

“Geekiest would be ‘how many kg of potassium should be added to blah blah water to freeze?’... I was like ‘just put it inside your freezer…’:p But the saddest would be ‘will I ever see my beloved again?’ I felt his longing for his loved one, coz I've been there, and so it almost made me cry.

I just realized how Y!Answers makes me feel alive by evoking different emotions in me through the questions of its memebers. And just a while ago, I encountered a question ‘I like being creative blah blah blah, how about you how do you express yourself..?’. It reminded me of my artistic side, taking a break from answering geeky questions. And there's even a poem I read which was really beautiful and which I could relate to. It makes me a complete person to deal with the different aspects of life. I love being in Y!Answers :)”

Don’t you?

Since the story goes that Adam was just an unwitting pawn in the Snake and Eve's attempt at gaining knowledge, isn't it more likely that what really happened was Adam set up Eve? Maybe he said things like "Boy, I sure could go for an apple." He could also have blamed the snake later on. Who's going to believe a stupid snake anyway?
OR maybe Eve and the Snake had a thing going on the side (use your imagination) and Adam was jealous. Then it was just a case of 'If I can't have her, you can't either."
I just think Adam is getting off a little light in the original scenario.

After reading some of my answers on my other question, I could not help but notice that they sound awfully like ultimatums and condemning of love and peace. It's all sin this and Hell that. Why on Earth would I ever want to be with a evil and mean God like yours?
Here is that other question that reveals the hearts of the heartless:

I live in an overly zealous Christian society. This was okay when I was a Christian but once I realized that god does not exist I began to live a lie and pretended to be a christian. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? How did you tell your family/friends that you are an atheist?

Just curious, and a little background--> I'm Wiccan, my boyfriend is Atheist, and amazingly we get along great and have many interesting discussions. One topic we brought up the other day was about afterlife. He believes death is death, nothing after. I believe in reincarnation. If Atheists are right, does it really matter that I believe in life after death since I'll just be dead and not know any better anyways? He maintains that he's actually got the best deal because if he is wrong, he'll just be happy to still be existing after death. How do other Atheists feel about this?

when the former spouse was put away for fornication (harlotry, sexual sin)

"And I say to you, that whoever shall put away his wife,
>>>except it be for fornication,<<<
and marries another,
commits adultery;
and whoever marrying a divorcee commits adultery."
(Mat 19:9)

thank goodness our Lord spelled it out plainly enough for us.
