I didn't want to get into a debate, and still don't, but here are some comments for those who wanted feedback on the original thread ( http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ak9pHdQ7PhvrT0sFAOStpebzy6IX?qid=20060713112319AAtzKKl ):

a) I am certainly not jealous of not being a christian. far from it.

b) Can't you read "SHORT REPLIES", don't quote half the book of acts for me (and I read it already!)

c) We believe it is fairly clear that G-d wants the sabbath on saturday. However, I don't even care about the debate. the point is that that is what jews believe. That is different from what christians believe and therefore my point remains.

d) let me emphasize, even if we're wrong (which we're not), one would still have to recognize that we're different. My intention was not to debate "who's right", just to show that we're different.

e) Not all sacrifices were sin sacrifices. We would still bring sacrifices except there is no temple. (can't get your car washed if you don't own one!)(And what do you think we did before the Temple and sin sacrifices? or after the first temple was destroyed? sheesh!) Furthermore, sin sacrifices only covered ACCIDENTAL sins, not intentional ones, not ones of other people, and not future sins. And it was a bull, not a lamb. And the passover lamb is completely unrelated to sin or forgiveness. (And where did this idea of killing people instead of animals creep in?)

f) I don't know if we killed jesus, but it wouldn't bother me if we did. after all, the bible tells us to kill false prophets. We were just doing what OUR G-d would want.

g) Yes, we await the messiah's arrival. It will be heralded by the rescucitation of the dead, peace on earth, universal knowledge of G-d, and a rebuilt temple, to name a few expectations.

h) the "elohim" thing is stupid. It is a noun, like "mayim", the "yud mem" ending doesn't indicate plurality, just like it doesn't with mayim. (for example, moses is called an "elohim". Does that mean that moses was a plurality?! obviously not.) (a little tip, don't try to use hebrew proofs against jews. sheesh!)

I) While I don't generally have any problems with christians, "messianics" are revolting b/c they try to make themselves look jewish. fess up -- you're just christians who eat bagels!

J) Who said abraham was righteous b/c of his faith alone? Did you forget all the tests he had to overcome? Furthermore, why would one look at that and simply ignore that EXPLICIT commands which G-d gave us to perform!?

k) I've read Isaiah 53. Not impressed christians. Firstly, it sometimes uses plural language which is conveniently changed to singular. secondly, jesus did not live a long life nor have any children.

l) um, susan, check out genesis 17.

Did any of you guys read my original post where I explain that to be the same G-d it would necessitate the same body or the same characteristics, neither of which are applicable here.
A rose by any other name is just as beautiful; but a shovel called a rose is just as uninteresting!

I apologize if I used a sharp tone. I'm tired and very aggravated by all that I have responded to. As I wrote before, I do not dislike christians (though I disagree with them). I just wish they'd respect our differences and give us some credit for not being blind idiots.

A. Nice topic.

B. Since you want short, don't complain if you don't get the answer.

C. You're thoughts here are not entirely accurate. If it were, then Jews everywhere would still be making burnt offerings, engaging in incestuous relationships, letting Jehovah tell you what cities to burn, and which children to kill next. If the God of the Israelites never changes His mind, then it must be concluded that Jews have once again turned against their God. If that is the case, then I applaud you all for chosing a higher morality.

D. I agree wholeheartedly that Jews and Christians are not alike. However, they do share the same cruel God. Jesus was a Jew and believed in the Jewish God. Christianity is based on the beliefs of Jesus. However, since Jesus is not accepted as the Messiah by traditional Jews, Christians and Messianic Jews should be considered the bastard children of the Israelites.

God remains the same in both beliefs, it is the belief in the Messiah that is the only real difference. All other differences in the various sects of Jehovah worship come from the distinction that Jesus is, or is not, the son of the shared God.

The Christian God and The Jewish God are one in the same. The Jews just don't understand that Jesus is the Messiah that God promised to us in the Torah, in order to provide a way for Salvation.
More importantly, I would like to share with you the Truth about the afterlife. I only tell you this because I care what will happen to you when you die. Have you ever told a lie, stolen anything, used God’s name in vain? These are just a few of God’s Moral Laws. When you die, God will judge you on the basis of His Moral Law. If you stand guilty before God of breaking His Laws, He will send you to Hell. If God is Just and Holy, He must punish lawbreakers. The good news is that God provided a way for you to be forgiven and go to Heaven. Jesus Christ died on a cross and rose again to pay the debt for your sins and take your punishment. What you must do is Repent, which means to say you are sorry to God and turn away from your sins. Then put your complete Trust in Jesus Christ. Only then will you be accepted into Heaven, not because you’re a good person, but because you’re a bad person who’s been forgiven. Please give this some thought. Your Eternal Destination depends on it.

Hi, I'm trying to figure out if your Jewish or not. It sounds like you are but that's surprising to find. I don't think it will do any good to debate this topic. However, I agree with you whole heartily on whatever you said. I just want to add something of my own that I've noticed. I was listening to the radio- Dr. Joy Brown (psychologist), and I heard all these issues people discussed with her. I was thinking to myself how grateful I am to be a Jew, since as a Jew there is the guidelines set by the Torah that cause people to lead moral lives. For ex: one issue brought forth was the famous cheating husband case. Since Jews are not allowed to cheat- its a huge sin, then spouses don't have that worrying that their spouse is having an affair with someone else.

The brief, but fairly complete, answer.

Same God. Christianity is a derivative of Judaism. Unfortunately, today's Christians do not folllow the words of Christ (a Jew), but of Paul (a Jew BORN into Roman citizenry and a Roman soldier once responsible for persecuting Jews and Judeo-Christians) who usurped the religion from the original apostles....and changed it.

In gaining converts to Christianity, he was in a self-made competition with the original apostles in Jerusalem. Although the apostles LIVED with Jesus, he claimed his knowledge was directly inspired by Jesus (though never having met him other than in a 'vision'), and that their so-called 'expertise' was only self-proclaimed. Unfortunately, outside of Jerusalem, he was believed.

He prevailed, and the majority of the original Judeo-Christians perished in the Roman destruction of Jerusalem in 79 AD.

Same God, just a different idea on how to worship Him.

Oh, and for you fellow Christians out there who like to beat on Jews for the death of Christ, you obviously don't know the religious social structure of that time. The 'Jews' who sold him out were the Pharisees: ROMAN-appointed religious leaders who were to keep order (for the Romans), or face death. Most were not even religiously trained, and were viewed as sell-outs by the common Jew, who would spit on them in public.

Most Christians fail to accept the FACT that JESUS WAS A JEW....not a Christian.

Judaism should be very a lot enthusiastic about *this* existence. We word of that we are able to no longer in all likelihood be attentive to what ought to come after, so we do not worry about it too a lot. The image we are in all probability to us has no longer something to do with eternal damnation notwithstanding, this is in basic terms a cleansing procedure that purifies the soul so the soul is able to procedure G-d. The longest it ought to very last is a 12 months. and that is for all people who makes a very very very huge type of blunders. Sin is part of being human. We make blunders, we do our mind-blowing to attain awareness of from them, and we try once extra. We settle for that we usually received't agree. We surely do no longer assume others to think about us, or keep on with Judaism. that should be very unusual. Judaism is without issues our mind-set. And something the realm to go back decrease back ought to easily or ought to no longer be, each and every man or woman is integrated. We believe that this international is often repaired, that it should be proper. If we do our section to assist that alongside, then an outstanding chief will emerge to assist us end this. this is who we call the Messiah, anybody very a lot of this international. between the ameliorations is that we focal aspect on our behaviour, now no longer the significant points of this personality. And we are able to not worship him by using the undeniable fact that is reserved for G-d on my own. And G-d is total, unified, and unitary. G-d in simple terms isn't incarnate or tripartite, those criteria haven't any problem in Judaism.

John1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

I could quote like 50 others, some even from the old testament. Did you know that in the original hebrew, Genesis was written in plural? Your own prophets predicted Jesus' betrayal for 30 pieces of silver. Like it or not, it is the same god, you are just too stubborn to believe.

No doubt we are different, but Romans 11 explains why, and explains why Jews are still God's chosen and all Isreal will go to Heaven, so I wouldnt even worry about what Christians believe if I were you.

The Bible tells us that God blinded the Jews- what do you expect. Jews will never understand until they repent first-why try to argue with them? It only makes them hate God more.
