Religious dogma is what religious leaders have followers believe in blindly, authoritatively, and without contest.

Its bad because the founders of religion were never dogmatic, their teachings were never meant to be dogmatic. Successive religious leaders interpret scripture in a way that they think will get them the most followers. Ultimately, they get rich quick.

Reading scripture with an open mind, trying to decipher the meaning for ourselves is far better than getting a religious leader to do it for us.

A religious dogma is a defined statement on some issue of religious concern. Belief in a dogma (at least in "dogmatic" religions such as Christianity) is required of all people professing that religion; if you believe something else, you are a heretic.
