In this forum I have found, that all the time non chrstians manage to bring home their arguments much convincingly with more than sufficient information to back up their arguments. Where as the christians always try to hide behind the word "God" - no enough support to justify their arguments. Am I right?

I asked who would and got a resounding "no". Im not religious at all and would easily give up my life to save all of mankind. What gives?
Jesus died on a cross so that we can be forgiven of our sins, right? I bet the're are people reading this who would have done the same. Jesus got to trade his life to save all of mankind.
There are people who would trade their life to save the life to save just 1 person. Is the firefighter not more ultraistic?
With billions of people in the world someone must have sacraficed more than he, right? Why does jesus get all the fame?

You can believe in creation, the big bang, evolution, etc. What other theories are out there? I, personally, as a Christian, am firmly planted in my beliefs, but I like to have all the information I can. What do you believe and why?

and has already written the book of life, then how is it possible to have free will?

if the book of life was written before we all existed then does that mean that it is futile to try and get others to believe as you do?

Every day was recorded in your book!" [Psalm 139:16] "

This confuses me. This means that God has planned every single detail of my life - from the minute I am born, to the minute I expire.

If this is the case, does that not mean that prayer is useless? I mean, God has it all planned out - so if I am going to die from some disease, whats the point in praying about it? Also, if God has this all planned out, then does that not mean that every abortion is God's plan? He knew when the fetus was to be concieved, and He knows when it is to be aborted then, if the Bible is true. That being the case, does this also mean that the woman having the abortion and doctor performing the abortion are blameless, as it is God's plan? Hitler killing millions of Jews - God's plan?? Any murderer at all then, according to this belief, is not sinning - they are acting out a part of God's plan. The person they killed - God had that planned.

Anyone else trip over these points too??

I'm not looking for theological responses - I want to know how you see yourself spending eternity, if you believe in the concept. Are you "up there" somewhere, outside the universe? Are you a spirit? What are you doing? Is it peaceful? Loving? Beautiful?

I have noticed something interesting, and I'd just like to point it out. This will ruffle some feathers, as usual, but oh well.

The atheists here have a very firm grasp on the beliefs of Christians and other religions. Even the believers don't refute what the atheists say about them. They just say they feel sorry for us because we don't believe the way they do.

On the other hand, when these believers attempt to attack or criticize the atheists, they make it abundantly clear that they don't have a clue what atheists truly "believe". They tend to create strawmen and/or criticize things that have nothing to do with atheism. (IE: Atheists hate god, or atheists reject god so they can be immoral, or atheists have been "hurt" by god so now they lash out, etc)

I find it interesting that there's such a difference between the two groups. Agreed?

Final round.

If all of my previous questions are truly believed (minus the sarcasm), then why is it so difficult for theists to believe that science is able to answer the seemingly obscure, absurd, and seemingly insurmountable questions of the universe? If a bush can burn and talk, or if a man can rise from the grave, why can't a universe start with a bang, or why is it so difficult to believe that creatures can evolve from different forms???

Let me make sure I've got this straight.

The heavens and earth were created in 7 days by a being that "has always been and always will be". This being is ominiscient (all knowing), omnipotent (all powerful), and omnipresent (everywhere). Despite these traits, this creature took 7 days to create everything when it could have simply blinked everything into existence all at once. It even had to rest on the 7th day. If it's all powerful, why would it get tired or need to rest?

The first two humans were Adam and Eve, who had many children -yet no one closely examins the theory of in-breeding, despite all offspring carry the same genetic make-up of their parents.

Later, a voice from heaven told Abraham to kill his son, then basically said "Psyche!" Yet when asked about other people hearing voices, it's called mental illness. Hmmmm.

Noah gathered up 2 of every species on the Earth and put them all on a boat.

A guy named Moses talked to a burning bush. Still not considered mentlly ill.

Two cities called Sodom and Gemorrah were destroyed by the wrath of "God". If they were destroyed, how can people refer to others as Sodomites -when none survived?

The Towel of Babel was destroyed. In revelations, the whore of Babylon is said to return. Why is there no mentioning of other whores in Babylon.

The walls of Jericho were knocked down by trumpets and horns. Is this the first test of a sonic weapon?

A child is born to a woman who has never had sex, even with her husband.

Jesus, a prophet turns water into wine. Feeds thousands with a handful of fish and a couple loaves of bread. Just how big WERE the portions in order to do this?

Jesus is tortured, beated, nailed to a cross, and dies. Three days later, he "rises from the grave". Why did it take so long? Why not one day? What was he doing for those three days?

After his death, Jesus appears to other people. Was he a ghost, a hologram, a hallucination? Jesus ascends to "Heaven". He clears the runway and takes off into sky.

The following passage describes the sickening practice of sex slavery. How can anyone think it is moral to sell your own daughter as a sex slave?

(Exodus 21:7-11 NLT)

When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again. But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her. And if the slave girl's owner arranges for her to marry his son, he may no longer treat her as a slave girl, but he must treat her as his daughter. If he himself marries her and then takes another wife, he may not reduce her food or clothing or fail to sleep with her as his wife. If he fails in any of these three ways, she may leave as a free woman without making any payment.

i am just curious how many people out there actually believe in God anymore cuz it seem slike the whole world is just going down the drain these days and i just want to know how many people believe and honestly why they believe. i believe in God with all my heart and i know he walks throught every day with me even though i cant see him, and that makes me feel so good and happy inside and loved. i just donnt get why someone would want to live in depression and anger and worldly things ... dont people care that god loves them and longs to help them live a happy life???and he wants to tak care of them and all their pain. you would think people would WANT a friend who will honestly never turn his back on them... anyway i am just curious about peoples opinions on this..not saying that you are wrong or right, i am just curious what people think...oh yeah...and god loves you more than any person could ever love you and he will never leave your side if you allow him to be there for you!!!!
