I know this maybe an obvious answer but I'm just wondering, if Jesus was a jew, how come catholics, followers of jesus like, aren't Jews too?

Because Jesus changed everything by sacrificing himself for our sins, thus erasing the need for all the old Jewish laws. He changed everything by being the Messiah of the Jewish prophesy. They just got mad at Him because He overthrew sin and death instead of Rome, so they don't believe in Him as the Messiah.

Logically he is not a Jew, because his clan rejected him although he came to endorse the existing law and lead them into righteousness. The notion of Jewish Jesus is usually populated in America for political reasons and mainly by misinformed Christians or Zionist Christians who do not like the idea of Jesus, being only the preacher of peace and advocate of the poor, yet they want to add an aura from the strict teaching of Moses and victorious David and glorious Solomon, the great prophets of Judaism. Hence Jesus is a Jew according to them.

back in the day, jesus was considered by some to be the messiah. then he was crucified. after jesus' death, paul, his best friend, followed the jewish prophesy that said that when the messia arrives, he must show other nations the right way.."he will be a light onto other nations" is the quote. since paul beleived jesus was the messiah, he spread jesus' word to the other naitons (non-jews). its funny how there is a massive religeon today because about a dozen guys thought the J-man was the messiah... think about it. and if jesus was the messiah, and paul was following the jewish prophesies,, what happened to the massive war to end all wars, and the ressurection of all the dead,, and the spiritual elevation of the earth? all that other stuff was mentioned in the same prophesy that told of the jewish messiah spreading his word to other nations.. think about it...

The first Christians (followers of Christ) were also Jews who came to believe that Jesus had fulfilled the Biblical prophecies about the Messiah.

Later converts to the faith, however, were not Jewish. In particular, the Apostle Paul spread the gospel to gentiles (non-Jews) in Asia Minor, Italy, and elsewhere throughout the eastern Mediterranean. A great debate arose between Jewish and gentile Christians over whether all Christians were expected to uphold the Hebrew Law.

The debate was resolved at the Council of Jerusalem (Acts 15 in the Bible, I think). The council declared that gentiles were only expected to uphold part of the law so as not to arouse animosity between them and their Jewish counterparts; gentiles were expected to uphold some dietary restrictions and to abstain from sexual immorality, but they were not subject to the entire Law.

Essentially, the council declared that one need not become a Jew in order to profess faith in Jesus Christ. Of course today, the vast majority of Christians are gentile (non-Jewish), though there is a very small faction of Jews who acknowledge Jesus as Messiah.

because Christians are Jesus's followers and Jews are Gods's special people. Because Jesus can't follow himself, he's a jew.

Because we are Gentiles. Although it is possible to convert to Judaism, Jewish traditions are cultural as well as religious, so people who aren't Jewish would feel weird adopting another culture.
Jesus came to fulfill the law and the prophets. God would have loved for all the Jews to recognise Jesus as the Messiah and they would have had, I suppose you could call it, a fullfilled Judaism.
Judaism was a promise to the decendants of Abraham. Although Judaism had the law, but it was a covenant of love. God was pleased by faith before Jesus came. Just look at David, Abraham, Elijah, Moses, Deborah, Ruth, Job, Queen Esther, Nehemiah, Hannah, Noah... The list is endless of people who had faith in God. So the covenant God made with Abraham was based on faith. He was broken when Israel turned to false God, but he reamained faithful to them. He punished them, but he remained faithful. With Jesus, he extended open his grace to the Gentiles. Christianity is a covenant of faith. So it similar in a way, but fulfilled.
There are Jews who believe Jesus/Yeshua is the Messiah and they call themselves Messianic Jews.

Jesus was born through the Immaculate Conception, but from a Jewish mother, Mary. As he grew, the King was inspired and commanded, (by God the Father), to lead all people on earth to follow Him in a world of peace, love and honor for God the Father.

This following of people are called Christians because they follow Christ and HIs ministry of love for others.

If He were preaching the word of Judaism, yes we would be Jews. Instead we follow the teachings of Christ, therefore we are Christians. Thanks be to God.

Because Catholics believe that Judaism is the old covenant between God and Abraham while Christianity is the new covenant between God and Humanity. In the New Testament, (I don't quote chapter and verse well so I will sum it up) is says we do not have to follow Jewish custom because Jesus' death and Resurrection abolished the need.

That's a good question, Jesus was Jewish by virtue of the land and area in which he was born. The Jewish people don't accept him as the Messiah(Rabbi) because he did not come back and fulfill what they thought the messiah would and should do. Personally I think we would all be better off if we simply identified ourselves as Christains and not by religions.

Your right weird question, it's because Jew's didn't think that Jesus rose from the dead. Also they are Catholic not Jewish.
