Ignore the trolls. This is a very important and relevant question.

The big question that emerges from this is whether or not BDSM is in conflict with Christian beliefs. This is answered on two differing fronts, the Church itself, and the individual believer.

In terms of what is blanketly called Fundamentalist Christianity, churches will usually refer to the Bible for answers to that. Also, from what I understand, it is often left to the individual believer to interpret scripture for themselves, as long as the basic groundwork of biblical inerrancy is adhered to.

Given that, there will most likely be believers that have urges for BDSM activities just based on statistics. Thus it will be up to them to decide for themselves if it is appropriate in their lives.

Some will come to the conclusion that the urges they have are a form of temptation that needs to be resisted. This view may be influenced by fellow parishoners that will reject this lifestyle out of hand. Nevertheless, it is ultimately their decision to make, and I do not make any judgments about that.

On the other hand, there will be some that will come to believe that within the context of a monogamous marriage that BDSM is not in of itself an evil. If I guess correctly, they are caught between their urges and the popular conception of what the lifestyle is, leading to internal conflict that they pray over and search scripture for. Those that make the decision that BDSM is not a sin will probably engage in it if the opportunity avails itself, meaning that their spouse is consenting.

Many people, Christian or not, view BDSM as a form of deviant behaviour and is therefore not appropriate for anyone. This tends to be a generalization of their own sexual preferences. My analogy for this would be like saying, "I do not like chocolate, therefore I cannot see why anyone eats something that's bad for them." This is normal human nature as it is difficult to anyone to accept something that is alien to them, especially if it appears to be vile.

Yet, for those who do engage in this particular lifestyle, it is possible that they experience an intimacy that goes beyond the vanilla world. They engage in an activity that they have to withhold information from their fellow parishoners, but they do so as they may see the urges that drive them to the lifestyle as not a curse but as a blessing relatively unique to them.

Some members of almost all Christian denominations are "into" BDSM. Some are not. This includes those denominations usually considered "fundamentalist."

You might also try doing a web search on something called Domestic Discipline.

While we don't consider ourselves fundamentalists, my husband and I are both very well-grounded in our Christianity, and have been a part of the BDSM lifestyle for many years.

No, BDSM requires consent. Fundamentalists were coerced into their beliefs. Do not insult the BDSM community with such assertions.

Sure, they both may kneel and pray, but the do so very differently.
