And if you're going to just say "we know it's true because it says it is" or some other such stupidity, please don't bother answering.
If you are going to say "because it's the Word of God", I expect to hear that God came down and told you this personally.

The conceit of men both modern and ancient to believe they have the definitive answer to a 'question' we hardly understand - is breathtaking, and the cause of misery and fear and conflict throughout history.

Nothing has changed in the modern era - we argue the pros and cons of the 'truth' behind creation, we fight and kill because of our conflicting opinions, yet not one man nor many can sensibly claim to know the 'real' truth, nor throughout future-time will we ever know the 'real' truth.

To assume we have even the slightest idea of the 'truth' of creation now is ridiculous - to assume the writers of the Bible had the answers over two thousand years ago is even more ridiculous!

I think that the only knowledge that is worth having, is that of the creator, and that if, one day, humanity evolves and develops to an ultimate understanding of creation, that then and only then, the circle would be closed.

Created becomes creator????

Throughout history cultures have clashed over unprovable beliefs, often replacing one religion/feasts/rituals with their own religion/feasts/rituals. In the process, millions have been killed for beleiving in whatever they believe, and we are still at war with each other over these beliefs to this day.

I found the site http://flushaholybook.com where you can flush holy books. If we really could eliminate religion, is this the answer to the problems of the world? If religion were gone would we focus on true problems like inequality, injustice, the environment and poverty, ... etc?

***The Paschal sermon of St John Chrysostom is read aloud in every Eastern Orthodox parish on the morning of Easter, the Great and Holy Pascha of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. In that sermon are these words:

"For the Lord, who is jealous of his honour,
Will accept the last even as the first.
He giveth rest unto him who cometh at the eleventh hour,
Even as unto him who hath wrought from the first hour.
And He showeth mercy upon the last,
And careth for the first;
And to the one He giveth,
And upon the other He bestoweth gifts.
And He both accepteth the deeds,
And welcometh the intention,
And honoureth the acts and praises the offering."

***If an evil person repents on his or her deathbed...and truly means it...Heaven will be their reward.

In 1998 Gordon B. Hinckley, the current president of the LDS church made a statement regarding when polygamy started:

"Larry King: Now the big story raging in Utah -- before we get back to morals and morals, is -- the big story, if you don't know it, is polygamy in Utah; there's been major charges. The governor, Mike Leavitt, says that there are legal reasons why the state of Utah has not prosecuted alleged polygamists. Leavitt said plural marriage may be protected by the First Amendment. He is the great-great-grandson -- is the governor -- of a polygamist. First tell me about the church and polygamy. When it started it allowed it?

Gordon B. Hinckley: When our people came west they permitted it on a restricted scale."

Answer this christians...the church just moves them on, they hardly ever get convicted! But because they are 'men of god' they get away with it...yeah this is a great example of the contradictory faith that is christianity "no man shall lie with man as they would a woman"

Everybody has seen the television show blasphermous jokes on Christianity as it's seen as acceptable. Yet other religions such as islamics go mad when a few artists pictures are released.
This is not what I would call equality.

It's wrong to commit suicide, however, the bible says Jesus was the incarnation of God. So if Jesus was God, and he purpously died on the cross, regardless of the reason, then is Jesus/God not a suicide, therefore, breaking his own rules?

Let me clarify this before people start going off on me like little 3 year olds having a tantrum. Why do we feel the need to define and restrict ourselves to one religion? Why is it that when we choose one, it's totally unacceptable to study another, let alone talk about it, let's say at Church or other religious meetings? Why is it that if you are one religion the others are 100% invalid. This is so narrowminded and just makes no sense to me. How many other people share my pain?

Do we not considered a woman or child to be raped when some one or something has sex with them without their knowledge or consent? Were God to be tried in a court of law would he/she not be declared and convicted as a pervert and would his/her name not be on the child molestors list .

God didn't wake-up one day and pick His Son's mother at "random." Like the Psalm says, he knew her from the first moment and destined her (like all humans) for her ministry. He prepared her for it by endowing her with grace (Luke 1.28). Gabriel and Elizabeth humbled themselves before the "Mother of my Lord" (Luke 1.43), but fundies treat Mary like dirt. It's obvious that no one should ascribe "divinity" to Mary, but treating her with reverence as a fellow human, spiritual "mother" is no crime. Fundies supposedly should treat their own mothers with honor and love, and Jesus doesn't get "jealous." How can they treat their Lord's Mother with anything less than good human love and respect? No one has to worship her, but she can be rendered enormous human "love". She herself said "All generations shall call me blessed" (Luke 1.48). Fundies like to skip that bit of Scrip.

FUNDIE IN LINE FOR ALLEGED "HEAVEN": Let me in, Lord, Lord!

JESUS: "You dissed my mother, and yours. NEXT!"

As the Bible states, sin passed from Adam to all men.
But, if it was as some claim, and God made other people (hence there needed to be NO marriage betweenbrother and sister), then they would have been without sin and therefore one of them could have been the sacrifice for sin.

Would this not be a type proof that there WERE NOT other people created?

Dictatorship or communist countries do not allow for the freedom of religion. There are no freedoms, however nations found on Christian beliefs have all the freedoms. Why not relocate to a religion free environment such as these dictatorship or communist nations if you oppose christianity.

You want us to allow your atheist and racist beliefs, yet you do not want us to have our freedoms. Please remember we are not yet in a dictatorship.

There were several questions regarding whether or not the SDAs are a cult, but all of the questions were closed to answers. There are a lot of opinions, but I would like to draw attention to the Christian Research Institute's (a non-SDA organization) findings on this question.

This is still the position taken by today's Christian Research Institute:

Though several capable Christian scholars (e.g. Anthony Hoekema, J.K. van Baalen, John Gerstner) have concluded that SDA is a non-Christian cult system, CRI has continued to assert that this is not the case. We take this position based on the content of the doctrine which was stated in an official SDA publication (1957) entitled Questions on Doctrine.

Since SDA does accept the foundational doctrines of historic Christianity (The Trinity, Christ's true deity, His bodily resurrection, etc.) we do not believe that it should be classified as a non-Christian cult.

Official Statement of the Christian Research Institute.

The Christians in my family are arrogant. The Christians that answer my questions on Yahoo Answers about religion (just look at some of the answers I've received....why is it that when you say the word religion they automatically think that means Christianity. Aren't their other religions out there?). The men that founded this country were Christians and arrogant. If you're not an arrogant Christian, that's great and this question doesn't apply to you. I want to hear from the arrogant ones please.
