Okay okay, I think a lot of people must not understand what a "Mormon" is. That's just a nickname. It's actually The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Yes, it is Christianity and they believe in the Bible. No, you don't have to "give up your money and door knock." Those are the missionaries, and they go to foriegn places and try to tell people what they believe. I would suggest talking to them if you want to know stuff about it. And I'm not sure where the "mormon whore" thing came from. Maybe they think Mormons are polygamists or something, which is not the case. Actually, I love science and might become a physics teacher, and I can find no contradiction between science and being a "Mormon."

Scientology is kind of just another type of atheism, but people don't really like that word so much.

Probably the best thing you can do to satisfy it is perform the scientific process in the Church. It's actually what I am doing right now. In The Book of Mormon (which is where the nickname comes from) in Alma 32, Alma suggests that you compare the faith to a seed, and plant it and water to see if it's actually a good tree that comes out of it. Basically, If you want to know, try it for a while (go to the meetings, talk to the people, live the same principles), and if it's a good thing and you feel good about it, then it was a good seed. If you feel like it's a bad thing, then it can't be logically consistent. It's a good way to scientifically show yourself what you want.

Scientology is the concoction of a science fiction writer. L. Ron Hubbard introduced Scientology as a self-help philosophy in the early 1950s and later redefined the philosophy himself as a religion. By definition, Scientology is actually a cult and many consider it a pseudoreligion. Mr. Hubbard continued devising the doctrines of his self-made religion up until his death in 1986.

I'm not sure why you chose specifically Mormon in your choices, but it is one of many Christian denominations. If you are interested in becoming a Christian, you may want to visit some churches in your area and become familiar with their views, but read the Bible and learn for yourself what it says before believing in somebody else's ideologies.

If you can't figure out why you would want to belong to one of them, then it seems foolish to join either.
