I have a genetic disease called galactosemia and have a deformed gene in my body. With this condition, my body will not seperate the lactose and succrose from any type of dairy product. The only thing I can do is avoid eating things that this particular gene would normally seperate. However, even after religiously staying on the diet, I still have several health related problems from this condition. If you are a religious person that feels stem cell treatment should be illegal because it "kills" the genes a fetus has, what do you think about Genesis 1:26 that says: "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground..."? If God meant for humans to rule over the earth then why would he be opposed to humans using stem cell research to cure medical diseases?

I just want to know why some people feel it is necessary to make up things about other people and their religions. Is it because they feel they aren't doing enough for their beliefs unless they diminish those of other people, or because they are so concerned about people believing something other than what they believe, or because they honestly don't understand the other religions or otherwise misinterpret them? Or is it a combination of all of the above? I honestly don't know. I would really appreciate everyone's honest opinion on this. Please don't believe everything you read or hear. It usually isn't true.

In the early days of Christianity, there were distinct traditions about the deaths of virtually all of the chief Biblical characters, but complete silence about Mary, the mother of Jesus. In the year 375 AD, the great Christian teacher, Epiphanius, played "coy" by saying that her final fate was something "wondrous" and "beyond the comprehension" of people, admitting that the collection of New Testament scriptural books could not be expected to "record" every event in the life of Jesus or any of his comtemporaries. Epiphanius refered to "hints" that her final fate was deliberately a mystery--she may have been a martyr, or she may be the "Woman" of Revelation 12 (flown to paradise), or she may have "remained alive" because "God can do what he pleases." Did the woman who allegedly gave her own flesh & blood to the Living God become riddled with maggots? Or, did something special happen? Enoch and Elijah were prematrely "raptured" because of "favor." What happened to the "favored" Mary?

Why believe in God when you'll never be really sure of its existance. It's a cop-out if it's a leap of faith. If it was my god why do I have to shut my eyes and pretend it really does exist. And if I did believe, God still doesn't come and prove it's existance.

My god would stop suffering if it could and if it didn't then it's not very godly then is it?

I do respect other peoples feelings and sure other people will argue God's case

I have a couple of ideas (see below), what are yours.

1. It offers a quick and simple solution for those folks that don't like complexity, or don't want to think very much. God snapped his fingers and poof it was done! No more thinking involved. All you've got is a few pages of genisis to read, not the thousands upon thousands of pages of reading required to get a true understanding of what we know about the genetics, evolution, chemistry, physics and math (ick!) that go into life.

2. People like to be put on a pedestal, and made to fill special. Evolution doesn't coddle people, creationism does.

I would like to apologize for: Why are people so gullible and judgmental? I did not mean to offend anyone. I appreciate everyone letting me know that I was being judgmental myself. I did not realize it until I got your responses. I reread what I wrote and saw what you saw. I am sincerely sorry, and I hope you all can forgive me.
I would like to apologize to the following people:
shoegodess, nic, BibleHelp, snoopychick90, sergio d, jd, Grazie, yetoso, and Big D. Thank you for your honesty.
I'd also like to apologize to anyone who may have read my question and been offended, and did not answer.
I will rephrase my question.
If any of you read this, please let me know. I want to know if my apology has reached you. If you have any response, no matter what it is, it is certainly appreciated.

rules?

I was not sure what category to put this question in but since it is a question about religion, well seeking an open forum or discussion about it, I hope it was ok to ask this here.I am seeking a more broader forum where all sides can share their views freely and can use reference points and links to their various sources. Most forums I have visted don't allow that and while I like using Yahoo Q&A I feel limited by the inability to communicate back and forth with all sides.Anyone know where I could go online for that?

Is heaven really up? Or do you think it is a mental state? Or, do you think it is an actual place we will reside after this life is through? Oh and one more thing...If christians believe that there is a judgement day, a day when we will be judged according to our faith and works, (or whatever you believe) and THAT judgement will determine whether we go to heaven or hell, where do people go when they die. THey dont automatically go to heaven or hell, right? Because they havent gone through judgement yet. So, where do they go?

I have and and did much more research and study on what is written in the Bible. My conclusions have shown to me that the Bible is not an inspired book but a historical document orginal passed down by word of mouth with a Mystic thrown in because man was to ignorant to understand the world that surrounded him.

I will no longer call myself a christian.

The answer in itself isn't bad ... It just isn't feasible .... And to me seems just a stale echo of ideas we have all been hearing for the last decade now ...
Why not feasible ?... Because both consumers and corporations are always going to footdrag on anything that restricts or "weans us from the energy tit" ...Whether we are talking gasoline ,homeheating or energy in general- I do not have any faith either the vested corporations, or consumers are going to "buck up" to making any sacrifices of signifigance to curbing greenhouse emissions ...Add to this, if we have a four to eight year regime change in this country that actually pushes through legislation that will change things ... The next regime will simply come to reverse the trend ...
But am I wringing my hands in pessimism?... no
What am I optimistic about? ...hydrogen cell technology ...
Hydrogen cell technology has no carbon byproducts ... in fact its only byproduct is clean H20 ...Water ...

in this category, to other questions , I've noticed that many Christians (who follow a trinity based system) seem to have the three branches a bit mixed up. I've seen responses saying "God died for us" and " Jesus allows you to live"...
If memory serves me correctly, that's transposed. However, (and here's the question folks) is it just that the three branches are so interchangeable, and perhaps I am confused? Or does each branch of the trinity represent and serve a seperate function?
Now, don't go all abusive on me-or try to save me. I'm asking this politely, from genuine interest!
In conclusion, what are the three branches, what purpose does each serve, and how interchangeable are they?
