I THINK I'm a fundamentalist, but I'm not entirely sure. My church (Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod) teaches that the Bible is the true and inspired word of God, so I think I qualify for this question.

We do NOT believe in the rapture. It's our opinion that Revelations is mostly symbolic. That doesn't mean that it's not true; instead, it uses symbolism to express something that is difficult to understand (like Christ's parables). We believe that Christ's Second Coming is the ONLY part of the Armageddon, and that it will take place in a matter of hours, not thousands of years. The part that many describe as "the rapture" is actually a record of things that happened in ancient times during the Roman persecution.

If you're speaking of the fundamentalist movement in the early twentieth century, then no, fundamentalists share the common belief in a literal rapture. If you're talking about "fundamentalism" in a modern, broader sense, then yes, there is room for disagreement on this issue.

most fundamentalist by definition would believe in the rapture, they may disagree with the sequence of events but they would accept that Christ will take up his church
