Is heaven really up? Or do you think it is a mental state? Or, do you think it is an actual place we will reside after this life is through? Oh and one more thing...If christians believe that there is a judgement day, a day when we will be judged according to our faith and works, (or whatever you believe) and THAT judgement will determine whether we go to heaven or hell, where do people go when they die. THey dont automatically go to heaven or hell, right? Because they havent gone through judgement yet. So, where do they go?

Heaven is there but noone knows exactly where. We associate up with Heaven because up is considered positive.

Now to answer your other question. When people die there are three places they could go. Straight to Heaven, straight to Hell, or to purgatory. Purgatory is a place where you work to become spiritually ready to enter Heaven. You may be there a while or just a little. It says in the Bible, "He will judge the living and the dead." That means that on judgement day, Jesus will judge BOTH the living and the dead.

By the way, one religious person (sorry I don't remember his name) said that the end of the world is in 2010. He made other predictions and none of them have been wrong.

I think its a great question, because it plays on the human realm of experience. But I have recently come to conclude that the only way to tell is that God is present. Since Heaven is God's kingdom, then wherever he is, there is heaven, and since he owns everything, and is all-pervasive, well, heaven is everywhere. But when you want to speak about God as a person, heaven takes on a much more local appearance. Like, when God is as personal as Krish-na, heaven becomes a forest full of groves, called Vrinda. When He takes the form of the holy son, Christ, Heaven is that place where Christ resides. When He takes the kingly form of Rama, heaven becomes a place called Ayodhya. Heaven is just a reflection of his presence and mood. When the Lord is present in the heart of the individual, he is called paramatma (supreme self) and heaven is within as the connection between the individual soul and the Lord.

I hope the above has been helpful.

What you are talking about are fairytales. Heaven and hell are not any other place than right on this planet..... one person's hell is another's heaven. No god made you, you are the product of wonderful evolution.... you are related to everthing on this planet -- fish, worms oak trees, horses --- everything. Isn't that lovely, that we are all related, and as such we as the so far brightest bunch, are responsible. What did you think, heaven was???? a place where you sat on a fluffy cloud? god, an old man in a long beard walked by and patted you on the head, or walked down to earth (from who can say were, since space crafts and telescopes know there is no such place as UP) on a ray of sun hand in hand with jesus, holding the devil by the tail? -- yeah, the guy in the red suit with a pitchfork and a pointed tail? A really silly, childish visual, would't you agree? Get over the bible stories, sweetie. Most of us who go to church regard god as something other that the above little story.... god is the wonder of life, the smile on a child's face, the energy to do, to create, the talent in an artist's brush, the mare and her young foal running in a field of grass, and the talent of a surgeon to fix that which is broken. That, honey is god. And it resides in you, and me, and all of us who try to make this planet a better place .......

Heaven is the promise land. It is where you go after you die. No one knows where it is. Judgement Day is when the world will come to an end. When people die, they go to Heaven or Hell, even though Judgement Day hasn't happend yet.

Regarding where heaven is, if it exists, it obviously can't really be 'up'; conversely, hell can't really be 'down'. At least, not 'up' or 'down' in our normal 3-dimensional space.

Regarding time, either people stay in limbo, or the souls could get fast-tracked directly to Judgement Day. So they'd be in some kind of suspended animation of sorts for the time being.

Heaven is a concept that describes a state of existence, where that which no longer is, persists. The concept of life after death has revolutionized humanity. You ask where it is, so, as a concept, I believe Heaven has been assembled across the minds of billions of human beings along the ages and there, carries on.

What is heaven:

Heaven is an idea. It has sprung to life in humanity's mind, and as concept has evolved as an idea across societies, religions and philosophies.

To me Heaven is a web of memories, residing in humanity's mind, where thoughts, dreams and loved ones persevere.

To me heaven is just a mental state. If you believe in it, then you are going to find a place for it. But if you think the concept of heaven is confusing, they wrap your mind around this. If there is a heaven then what is reincarnation about?

According to your question - you don't have to worry about where the Heaven is. Unless you will accept Jesus Christ in your heart as your Savior. And He's the One who can get you in there.

you stand in front of God, you come into his presence and he will have like a screen showing you everything you done, its like a personal movie of all of your sins (the ones you havent asked for forgiveness from) and all the times you worshiped and praised him. but time is not something he is worried about so if it take years to talk to you and for him to tell you where your eternal home will be he won't stop until the work is done.

We don't have information. But there is physical heaven. The knowledge of the soul after death and all what happened to it is with God and he did not transfer this knowledge to humans.
