It's not Christianity they hate it's Jesus they hate. Christians know we will be ridiculed because of our faith. If God is for us who can be against us.

Currently the United States government is primarily controlled by Christians.
Christianity therefore has access to the most nuclear missiles, biological
weapons, etc. I refuse to think of the "poor abused Christians". Christians
control more wealth than any other religion despite population or country.
Christians are seldom aware when they are being blasphemous to other
religions, particularly in this country when they are rarely exposed to them.
Where they are exposed, such as in the middle east, many label the
persons of another religion as extremists, terrorists, etc.
And for that matter, no religion gets picked on like Atheism does.
How many people out there do not accept God into any part of their
life and completely act without interaction, but would not call themselves
Atheists or Agnostics simply because of the social stigma?
How electable do you think a Budhist, Hindi, Moslem or Jew would
be in this country? How about a Mormon? Jeez ... not only do you
have to be Christian, you have to be the right kind of Christian.
I have nothing against the religion, but it is laughable that it is being
picked on in particular.
That being said, humor from a given society will pick on the majority
of its own members because that is what people are familiar with.
A joke about something you know nothing about is not humorous.
Americans are more likely to pick on Christians than, say, Chinese
because this country is primarily Christian and we are familiar
enough with the religion to understand the jokes.
Chinese are more likely to pick on their own religions for the same
reasons.
Because Hollywood and American media is so ubiquitous across
the world, the rest of the world is exposed to us making jokes about
ourselves - and by the above extension, Christianity.
One might hope that the rest of the world seeing Americans making fun
of Christianity would extend to the concept to them making fun of their
own religion. That is, humor, instead of maliciousness.
However, to date, religious intolerance and paranoia tend to prevent
other countries from achieving that level of tolerance.

The problem we face is that the very small minority is pushing around the Majority. The Islamics are true believers in their religion enough to die for, such as Jesus died for every ones sins. . Christians have some how lost their drive , guts, whatever you may call it and want to stay silent. We will see Christmas , Easter and all christian holidays gone quickly unless Christians stand up for what they believe . We have few in the media that "get it" such as Bill O'Reilly and Shaun Hannity but others dont get it or dont care.

Equality is in short supply these days-Think about the consequences
Relegious diffrence's have been the root of all WAR'S -Whats so great about that! No Relegion has the right to claim it has all the answers,
think about this fact - the Concept of God was created by Man to control Men - then you can start to understand if youre willing to accept responsibility for your choices- in this life - Karma is real -
Do unto others as you would have them do unto YOU!

No. If you bash Christians publically you get a backlash. But you can say just about whatever you want about atheists and get away with it.
So I think it's really atheist bashing which is the most accepted prejudice.

It is extremely common for anyone in the majority or in any position of power and so on to recieve criticism by people who are in the minority. Christianity is infamous for having a relatively murderous and hateful stance towards non-christians, blacks, jews, gays, muslims, children, women and even each-other.
What I am talking about are the Crusades, the Inquisitions, the genocide of Native Americans (North and South), support of slavery, support of segregation, opposition to equal rights for women, blacks and gays, opposition to vaccinations of diseases (Because fundies back then believed that disease was a punishment from God), and so on.
Lately, Christianity has recieved alot of negative flak due to the rise of conservative groups that seem to try to force everyone to believe in their ideology - whether it be from anti-non-christian and anti-gay propaganda to fullblown KKK style hate (IE Westboro Baptist Church). Despite these people being in the minority, people use this as a criticism against Christianity.
Thusly it does in fact seem that the people who constantly promote Christianity with hatred of gay people and other people alongside it are further damaging the reputation the entire religion as a whole has amassed throughout the centuries. Meanwhile, lately there have been denominations that actually try to reach out to everyone, help people, aid disaster-relief, fight poverty, and promote real morals instead of selling the morals of propagandists for profit like various hate groups do.
And unfortunately it is the -mainstream- Christians who get alot of bad flak from the loud minority of Christians that preach hate. I've seen it myself, where someone mentioned that they were a Christian and suddenly people were assuming, "OMG u h8t gays? wtf?!"
And it is to those people that assume such things that I like to say, "Go bother the AFA if you want to bother someone who hates gay people, but leave everyone else out of it okay?"

You're right, it's not equality - We should be able to discuss, criticise and ridicule all religions, not just Christianity, and our governments should come down like a ton of bricks on anyone who seeks to frighten people into treating religion of any sort with a respect that it doesn't deserve.

I am by no means a mainstream Christian and I feel it is in bad taste to bash Christians just for a cheep laugh. Of course I feel bashing any religion is wrong and should be avoided.

Bashing and making humor are two differant things in our laughter we discover truths with in ourselves we did not know existed, when you tell me my beans fall through the grill, that's why I do not have BBQ's is a joke, but when you call me a second class citizen that's differant. Things have to be put in context of what is being said, sometimes people go to far.
