The Christians in my family are arrogant. The Christians that answer my questions on Yahoo Answers about religion (just look at some of the answers I've received....why is it that when you say the word religion they automatically think that means Christianity. Aren't their other religions out there?). The men that founded this country were Christians and arrogant. If you're not an arrogant Christian, that's great and this question doesn't apply to you. I want to hear from the arrogant ones please.

LOL @ notquitethere. Looks like this little lady just proved my point. WHO THE HELL SAID I DON'T BELIEVE IN GOD? WHO SAID I'M NOT A CHRISTIAN? And if you knew anything about this nation's history, you'd know as well our "founding slaveholders" were arrogant.

Someone else asked the ignorant question "did you know the founding daddies, if not, how do you know they were arrogant". Well, it was the white man's philosophy at the time that they were the "chosen ones" and all other cultures, religions and people in general were inferrior to them. And if YOU don't know this, take a lesson on American History at any University in the nation. The white teacher will tell you so......dummies.

How do you assume that the men who founded this country were arrogant? Have you meet them? then don't assume. Anyone could say the same thing about atheists.

Using the word "most" to describe a very wide variety of people who happen to fall within a certain group is not appropriate.

But I understand what you mean ... a large portion of those who use Yahoo! Answers are probably citizens of The United States of America. And, as one myself, I feel I can say that we tend to be very narrow in our views of the world and other regions/cultures.

Keep in mind though, you made a similar generalization in your statement, "The men that founded this country ...", assuming the reader was a citizen of the U.S.A. when it's possible an individual of another nationality is using this board as well. I'm certain there are at least a few from Canada, if nothing else.

I think you have issues. The word you should have used is SOME. Maybe the people answering your questions aren't Christian people. Maybe they are just saying their beliefs and YOU think it's Christian. As for your family...well, they'd be arrogant whether or not they were Christian,
I'm not Christian. However, I'm sure you, with your fanatic anti-Christian view of things, would take many of my answers from the Religion section as Christian. Do you realize that maybe the people are of undecided faith, and are simply expressing their opinions, tho they are similar to the views of Christians?

Christians are not arrogant. We just want to be a little respected since we are all the bullseye enemies from liberals and terrorist. Liberals and terrorist have so much in common and hating Christians is just one of the same thoughts they both have. We are the target, just like the Bible said when we would be. But we want no one burning in hell. We are the opposite of arrogant because we want you and everyone else in Heaven with us. Every knee will bow before Jesus Christ, but soon after that you will go in one of two ways. Please go with us in Heaven. That is all we ask. Arrogant? I think not.

I don't want to offend anyone (I probably will) really but I have been noticing a pattern here too, it's not jut christians but most of the people in religion and spirituality are a bunch of brats, the ones that are christians are probably just starting their walk with God and though their hearts are renewed by the new birth according to the miracle of salvation, their souls aren't (mind, will and emotions), thus, there's a bunch of christian brats too. Got the zeal but lack the knowledge and need time to die to self by spending time in His presence, His Word and prayer, this is hard work and discipline, in a world of MCDonalds and microwaves, people want to jump into things too quick without developing character, and the process to develop it my friends is never going to change, it takes a lot of time, patience and sacrifice (I know we don't like that word) Aswell as learning the principle of submission that is a requirement for a christian, learn humility by humbleing under their parents pastors teachers as the Bible commands you like them or not, you have to love them. If you have victory over this you wont come here acting like a know it all with no respect for unbelievers for which Christ died aswell. Is the love of God that touches people, He needs us to show it in every circumstance, He already did his part, what are your reasons for posting an answer? Did you check the persons profile or previous questions to know where they stand and think of the best way to show the love o God? Or just want to show off, blabber(Bible talks about babbleing spirits), your opinionated and you can't hold back, do you ever listen to people? Or just because you learned some truth want to shove it in peoples faces proudfully? You do have to admit that nobody cares about brats being, rude, arrogant and very intolerant, when they are not christians, but I can't complain about that either since that is the christian moto, being renewed from glory to glory and faith to faith into the image of Christ (loving, compassionate, tolerant, meek, humble, servant's heart, etc.) Because of that we are judged more severely. Now, it's also my view, that american youth is the mot insolent and rebelious there is, with their parents, teachers, fellow men, society, etc. so it takes a lot more work to get this acomplished, but hey! There is hope! Not that unbelievers care but "The good work that He started in us He will finish !!!" .

How is it possible to tell if someone is arrogant on the internet??? On the internet there are certain aspects of communication that are missing. therefore it is left to the one that is reading to determine the temperment of the writer.
Consider this, it may be possible that the person is a very direct person.
When you go to a doctor, he doesn't always tell you sweet things. He is straight forward and covers all the facts. He tell you just what the problems are and he does his best to treat the symptoms with the utmost care. It is up to the patient as to whether he follows the doctors advice.
As Christian this is what we are called to do. we share the gospel and the Word of God from the Great Physician and it is up to the person reading as to whether they really want it or not.

If you have been taught and believe that your beliefs are right and everyone else is wrong and going to go to hell if they don't convert to your beliefs (even if you genuine feel sorry for them and want to help them out) -- I think that will inevitably lead to a bit of arrogance in some if not all people.

Not only Christians but all religious people are arrogant because they are taught that they are right and everyone else is wrong about religion.

Either all religions are wrong or 1 is correct, but they all cannot be correct simultaneously.

If I believe something to be true, then, by definition, any contrary religion must be wrong.

If you label that "arrogant" than you are suggesting it's wrong for me to believe my faith is true. In other words, you're accusing me of being faithful to my religion.

now THAT is arrogant!
