it doesnt work for me to just open it in anywhere and just start reading. the old testament prophet books like (Isaiah, Nehemiah, Jeremiah, etc) are just so confusing and boring. And the new testament I just feel like Ive read it all and theres nothing left. I know Im wrong, but I dont know what to do. How can I get more interested?

The Reformers rejected the Papacy, they also rejected the teaching authority of the Catholic Church. They instead turned to the Bible as the rule of faith. It was proposed that the interpretation would be left up to the individual reader, as guided by the Holy Spirit. The problem is that the reality this hasn't worked at all. If this were true, then everybody's interpretation would be the same, since God cannot teach error. But look at the reality. There are thousands of different Christian Denominations with different beliefs. Even the Reformers weren't of the same mind on things.

A pastor walked into a neighborhood bar. The place was hopping with music and dancing but every once in a while the lights would turn off. Each time after the lights would go out the place would erupt into cheers. However, when the revelers saw the town pastor, the room went dead silent.

He walked up to the bartender, and asked, "May I please use the restroom?"

The bartender replied, "I really don't think you should."

"Why not?" the pastor asked. "Well, there is a statue of a naked woman in there, and her most private part is covered only by a fig leaf." "Nonsense," said the pastor, "I'll just look the other way."

So the bartender showed the clergyman the door at the top of the stairs, and he proceeded to the restroom. After a few minutes, he came back out, and the whole place was hopping with music and dancing again.

However, they did stop just long enough to give the pastor a loud round of applause.

He went to the bartender and said, "Sir, I don't understand. Why did they applaud for me just because I went to the restroom?"

"Well, now they know you're one of us," said the bartender. "Would you like a drink?" "But, I still don't understand," said the puzzled pastor.

"You see," laughed the bartender, "every time the fig leaf is lifted on the statue, the lights go out in the whole place. Now, how about that drink?"

I remember 2 very life changing stories:

1. The Lakers were down by 1 with .4 seconds left against the Spurs. I picked up my religious apparel, and started to pray feverishly. Guess what? Derek Fisher hit a turn around shot, and swooshed it in.

2. He told me he would let me get an A on my Chemistry Final Exam in which I was 2.5% off from an A. I received a 97% on a 160 point test.

SEE HOW AMAZING IT IS TO GOD HAVE BY YOUR SIDE!! I CANNOT BELIEVE WE STILL HAVE ATHEISTS IN THIS WORLD EVEN WHEN SO MANY PEOPLE ARE BLESSED BY THE DEITY.

Don't give me bible bashing cliched answers, what are the actual benefits.

I am an atheist and i am not asking to bash you, I simply want to understand why you believe what you do. Maybe I am missing something, so please fill me in if I am, but I don't see how you could believe some of things in the bible.

Another question related to my prior question. If you go to heaven and suddenly find yourself "perfect", what will distinguish you from your god? Isn't your god the only thing that's truly perfect in your religion? Furthermore, how do you define "perfect"? You mean all the ugly Christians will suddenly be a delight to behold?

Think about it;

God apparently created everything. Thus God created Satan. I would've thought that to be a bad decision but let me finish.

God is apparently omnipotent, AND omniscient. That is, all-powerful and all-knowing. So surely he knew Lucifer was going to be evil, no?

Anyway, long story short, turns out that God created evil and continues to allow it to thrive. So is it really a bad thing?

if so, explain.

It's not unusual for people to be converted to Christianity or other religions after they spend enough time around religious people.

But does it ever go the other way? Can anyone give me an example of a religious person who was talked into atheism? What was it that convinced them?!

Note: I'm not referring to people who lost the faith for private reasons, nor to people who just became agnostics. I'm talking about religious people who talked to atheists, considered their views, then switched to atheism.

This was part of an answer to my last question about going to heaven -

"and heaven won't be boring, there will be sports, paintball, anything good that you can think of, it'll be there."

So, like, playing paintball FOREVER won't get boring?! Let me emphasize that eternity is a very, very, very long time. Even if you work your way through paintball and every sport known to man, what will you do then? Take up needlepoint?

in referring this promise of the coming "helper" to Mohammed?

Muslim scolars see in this reference of promised "Helper"(paracletos) a prediction of Muhammed, because the Quran (Surah 61:6 ) refers to Mohammed as "Ahmad" ( periclytos) which they take to be the correct rendering of "paracletos".

Less than 10 minutes ago my friend was mugged by three guys. One hit him over the head spilling all his groceries. One of them claimed to have a gun. He is shaken and up set, with scraped knees, elbows, dirt everywhere, and a throbbing head. And for what, a lousy 7 dollars. I'd hate to be these peoples karma.

I am a Christian Designer. I'm trying to promote Sha' N' Fashion web store. I need as many people as possible to take a look at the site, then tell me your honest opinion. These are one of a kind, everyday clothing with flavor and personality. All women want to be different, unique, and in style. There's about 360 other items not shown on the site.

Let me know what you think, as a Christian site, about the: style, price, if the clothing are too funky, not funky enough, etc. But keep in mind, these are one of a kind items. Thanks! http://www.shanfashion.com

I keep hearing the same things about us over and over again. Polygomy, Gods, and Golden "Tablets". Why don't people look into the religion themselves instead of the hear-say that is going around? Is it fair to tell us what we believe by what an ex-member of the church who didn't follow the religion anyway says? Or would it be better to ask your anti-mormon preacher what is right? I think that all Christian religions teach truth and I have nothing against them. Why can't others feel that way about the LDS people?

We just want everyone to get the facts straight?
