BETTER QUESTION:::

Why does it always seem to be the Christians who are doing the persecuting? With the Holocaust, pogroms, the Inquisition, the Crusades, and on and on, history shows that the ones who are persecuting the Jews have been Christians. If the tree is known by its fruit, then why has it been Christianity that is so often responsible for the discrimination against Jews??

I'm not sure. Maybe it's because we're spread out, yet still a minority, easy to pick on??

My dad and mom had a discussion once where he said discrimination and suffering were part of Jewish, but she (and I agree) that it's something that's come about, not just something that's part of a person's identity itself.

and wow...I find that 'jew watch' site, upon first glance, to be very disturbing. That's the type of thing I find hard to understand; it's an example of how discrimination exists, even in our lovely modern age. Things may have gotten better, but maybe it's just part of human nature.

Jews follow the commandments they were given by God as the chosen people. This makes them different from everyone else in how they dress, how they live and what they eat. People can't stand it when someone chooses to deliberately be different and often react with hostility. In addition, for almost 2,000 years, the Christian church has been encouraging people to discriminate against them.

Envy, mostly. Jews are really rather fine people, and low-lifes have a tendency to get hostile to anyone they suspect is superior. I go the other direction, and tend to discriminate in favor of Jews, especially Jewish men. My two greatest loves were both Jewish, although I am Pennsylvania Dutch myself. Yes, that means German-American, actually: ironic, isn't it?

Also, it is profitable to pick on Jews. If you put them away, you can confiscate their wealth. That was most of what the Nazis were up to, you know.

Maybe you should look around. So discriminated? This isn't the 19th century. Other than the Middle East where some want to exterminate them, I think that Jewish people are very well accepted in our society. Sure there are exceptions, there are jerks of all sorts.

because closed minded people like to discriminate what they do not understand. Maybe for the same reason us pagans are discriminated against.

Because they are God's chosen people.
In response to one of your answers;
I don't know where this idea came from that Christians should discriminate against Jews.
As Pastor I would severely reprimand anyone that I found doing such an Un-Christian thing.

depending on how you interpret the bible, it was the jewish elders that were responsible for the death of jesus, not pontius pilate. they delivered christ to pilate and insisted that he be crucified. pilate was made out to be more of a puppet. "now pilate, seeing that he was doing no good, but rather that a riot was breaking out, took water and washed his hands in sight of the crowd, saying, 'i am innocent of the blood of this just man; see to it yourselves." after which barrabas was released and jesus was taken off to be crucified.
now if you believe this interpretation it's not difficult to see why christians were a little upset with the jews. after all they just crucified their savior. in the early first centuries 'passion plays' (plays which re-enacted the trials and crucifixion of jesus) were very popular in cementing the idea that jesus was murdered by the jews and was also widely used in helping to convert others to christianity. this interpretation hung on throughout the centuries and resulted in widespread discrimination against jews by christians.
to all that i say 'get over yourselves.' it was 2000 years ago. let it go. and besides jesus said '...love your enemies, do good to those who persecute and calumniate you...' i think all this disicrimination would be very much frowned upon by jesus.
p.s. i am neither christian nor jewish but i find arguements between religions that essentially believe in the same god to be laughable.

Because they are God's Chosen people.
He also told them He would scatter them and that the "faces of the heathen would be set against them", but the time is now when He will gather back to Israel, and then will come the time of His Second Coming.

This is why I hope with all my heart that the USA keeps her backing of Israel to the very death!

I love and bless Israel, and I pray for the Peace of Jerusalem!
