Religion has been said to be something that sets you on the right path, but all I see are people taking the money from church just for reading a book, and buying whatever they feel like buying, people blow up other people for their religions, and deep down it just feels like a slick ploy to control others actions. If religion creates so much fear (fear of going to hell), hate (holy wars), and death (religion is the sole cause of countless wars), how can it be a good thing?

Much of the reponses I see are usually phrased this way. I think it indicates ignorance on the part of the writer. Try a little research.

but I can't choose which faith to believe in. I must choose between Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, or Judaism, or something else.

Which should I choose, and why?

Ok... thank you all for your answers! I learned from that. Sorry for generalizing atheists and non-religous people, and for calling them rude. Sorry to have probably offened some of you.. not my intention. It's ironic that only yesterday I asked if we could stop fighting over religion an make PEACE. I asked my question about going to church, because I was interested in who is attending what church (and when). I have to say that I acutally really laughed about some of the "non-religious" answers like: "nice cereal--I'll have you for breakfast"... but being called a "religious ****".. that's just plain rude...
Ok.. one more thing: Quakers are adapted to modern day society... so you'll find us online :) (for those who keep asking me why I'm online)
Last.. I'll just repeat my question from yesterday: Can we make PEACE??

There are some who believe God and Satan are yin and Yang but they are not! Satan was created by God. The creation is never as powerful or equal to it's creator. Lastly, God will destroy the Devil and sin.Are there those who believe the balance of power with God and Satan or am I mistaken?

I’ve read the Bible & have respect for it. But have any of you ever read anything about those you condemn? Even the Complete Idiot’s Guide counts, just don’t assume others are wrong till you know what they believe.

Jesus' example: Luk 11:2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

Joh 16:22 And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
Joh 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
Joh 16:24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
Joh 16:25 These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.
Joh 16:26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:

Our martyrs are in heaven, and their dead are in hell. The struggle in Palestine is an American war, waged from America's most heavily armed foreign military base, Israel. In the west, people are programmed not to think of the Israeli-Palestinian "conflict" in those terms, just as they are programmed to think of the Israelis as victims, not illegal and brutal occupiers. This is not to underestimate the initiative of the Israeli state, but without F-16s and Apaches and billions of American taxpayers' dollars, Israel would have made peace with the Palestinians long ago.

Most people have such a relaxed attitude about life AND worship (because most people don't). I've been to different churches and I've seen people dressed in shorts, flip flops, drinking coffee in the Sanctuary, never carrying a Bible or taking any notes. I was appalled! As a Christian and a believer in the Bible and what It says, most Scriptures speak of reverence, respect, even attire for men as well as women. Where have our values and morals gone. Please answer.

we talk of marriage and we're madly in love. he says it will work and most of the time i agree with him. that is, until the topic of religion comes up. i dont believe there's one true religion, and he's constantly talking about the end of the world being near and how witnesses are the only ones living "right". how can we make this work?

For those who have replied to my recent questions:
As you know Bible has come to humans by jesus to let us know God's rules for living on earth! so when you chritians cannot tell which bible is truely God's word how can I trust one of them to study and start believing in it.

You know I'm a muslim and to let you know: we have one holy book called Quran which has only one version all over the world and is the real words of God to humans on earth.

I belive in Jesus Christ (The Holy Prophet of God) as it is mentioned in our holy Quran.

Now that I'm in college, I'm exposed to many different cultures and religions. One of those I still cannot understand is atheism. How can someone simply not believe in a higher being!? I am christian, but I have a high respect for many different religions, except those who do not have religion at all. I find myself trying to grasp for the words to say to these people. It's difficult to find something logical to say to them that could possibly get them to listen to you. So, if you are religious, what do you say to atheists without trying to dehumanize them?

if you are gay they won't let you in? I don't mean all churches just some of them. I mean doesn't everyone sin, including the ones who go to church? I'm not trying to be religious it just seems illogical.
