It dosen't say this. From my understanding, this is a common misconseption, no God will hate you for being gay, I promise you this.

It does not say that directly.
It says something like - A man shall not lie with another man.
And - sodomy is illegal - which comes from the city of Sodom, destroyed by god's wrath.
However, the bible stating that being gay is a misconception if its based on sodom.
If you read it, it says that god would spare the town if there were 1000, no 100, no 10 good people in it. The angels came to the town, and went into the house of a certain family. From the outside, the populace had gone mad, and were fornicating endlessly and going crazy. People had seen that some men had gone into the house, and they told the houseowner. We want those men, send them out!
The guy refused, offering up his daughter(s?) instead. The towns people insisted, and the angels lead the family out of the town and then wiped it flat. So ends the story of Sodom.
Which really begs the question, why did the church doctrin of today not include that more people offer up their daughter as sexual servants to protect people from sodomy. Oh right, that's because the bible is a history book, and we don't actually do what it tells us to, people just pick and choose. Thou shalt not kill - overrulled. A pretty important commandment. And i don't see where in the bible it says thou shalt not have sex.

1 Corinthians 6:9
9Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,
The Bible consistently tells us that homosexuality is a sin (Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9). Homosexuality is described as an abomination. Romans 1:26-27 teaches explicitly that homosexuality is a result of a continual rebellion against God. When a person continues in disbelief, the Bible tells us that God “gives them over,” God allows them to experience their sinful desires and the resulting consequences. 1 Corinthians 6:9 proclaims that homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom of God. Homosexuality is immoral and unnatural. It is a perversion of the "natural order" and more importantly, God's view of sex.
With all that said, the Bible does not describe homosexuality as a “greater” sin that any other. All sin is offensive to God. Homosexuality is just one of the many things listed in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 that will keep a person from the kingdom of God. According to the Bible, God’s forgiveness is just as available to a homosexual as it is to an adulterer, idol worshipper, murderer, thief, etc. God also promises the strength for victory over sin, including homosexuality, to all those who will believe in Jesus Christ for their salvation (1 Corinthians 6:11; 2 Corinthians 5:17).

Personally I don't care what the bible may say or not. I believe I was made as God intended (or any other fruit fly out there, or any Salmon swimming up a stream).
The Gay Rights movement is pathetic. The next thing we'll hear is jail convicts marching through the streets asking for special priviliges.
Take a hike, and keep it in the closet.

There are other Scriptures...but it's VERY CLEAR that homosexuality is untolerated. God destroyed Sodom and Gamorrah over unrepentive homosexuality. Ever wonder where the word sodomy comes from???
Now saying this you are not barred from heaven for being gay. God says this is a sin, and we are born sinners. Those that truly become Christians should have the desire to want to do right and turn away from homosexuality.
Here's a verse for reference:
1 Corinthians 6:9, 10 - Do you not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom.

God doesn't hate anyone..He hates our SIN. It doesn't say that a gay person will go to hell...It says in Romans 3:23, "For ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God." In Romans 5:8 it says that, "But God commendeth His love toward us, that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Lastly, in Romans 10:13, " For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Jesus is the only way......

Not just gay, God hates sin. Not the sinner, or we would ALL be in trouble!!
I Cor:6 9-10:
DO NOT BE DECEIVED; neither the sexually immoral, nor idolters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexual offenders, nor theives, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor swindlers will inherit the Kingdom of God.
Next verse goes on to say " But such were some of you..."
You can turn away from sins and be saved!

Jesus has compassion of the sinner. But He does not wish the sinner to stay in their condition. To the woman caught in adultery He said, "Woman, where are your accusers? Hasn't anyone condemned you?" She said, "No one, sir." Then Jesus said, "I don't condemn you either. Go home, and from now on do not sin any more."" (John 8:10-11)
"They exchanged God's truth for a lie and worshipped and served the creation rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason, God gave them over to degrading passions. Even their females exchanged their natural sexual function for one that is unnatural. In the same way, their males also abandoned the natural sexual function of females and burned with lust for one another. Males committed indecent acts with males, and received in themselves the appropriate penalty for their perversion. Furthermore, because they did not think it worthwhile to retain the full knowledge of God, God gave them over to degraded minds to perform acts that should not be done." (Romans 1:25-28)
"You know that wicked people will not inherit the kingdom of God, don't you? Stop deceiving yourselves! Sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexuals, thieves, greedy people, drunks, slanderers, and robbers will not inherit the kingdom of God." (I Corinthians 6:9-10)
There are numerous other examples, but one alone should be sufficient. When someone becomes a Christian, they are changed. Life-dominating sins become the exception in a person's life, not the norm. One who wishes to continue in any sin, regardless of what it is, should test themselves to see if they really are in the faith. "Keep examining yourselves to see whether you are continuing in the faith. Test yourselves! You know, do not you, that Jesus Christ lives in you? Could it be that you are failing the test?" (II Corinthians 13:5)

It doesn't say he'll hate you. But read the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. Read all the clues carefully as to why the cities were destroyed. I don't know if it specifically says "being gay is a sin", but if it's enough to destroy the cities, then I'm guessing it counts as a sin. Keep in mind that in old English, "to know" someone sometimes meant "to have sex with" someone.

It does not say that. It says that practicing homosexuals are sinning, just as it says liars are sinning, or people who judge others are sinning. Matter of fact, it also says, "for ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God"
Being saved by Christ is what gets you to heaven. And that is for EVERYONE, just for asking and believing.
What you do is between you and God. It is no body elses business. They are not perfect, and probably less perfect than you are.

9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Homosexuals can still go to heaven if the ask forgiveness, repent and turn away from their ways. This is because Jesus died on the cross for us that we may go to heaven.
