Good question, but really opening the proverbial can of worms.
Before i get to my answer i would like to say that the reason religion causes so many problems is due to peoples ignorance. Not all religions can be correct, either they are all wrong or one is right, nothing more nothing less. But of course some can not see that.
Anyway,
In response to the question can we make peace?
Well depends on what we define as peace.
If we are talking about peace between every single person in the world then unfortunately it cannot happen, the best we can hope for is a certain level of acceptance of each other, because there is no chance that everyone will agree.
Peace is an ideal thing to aim for but in the most part it is unachievable, all we can truly hope for is to get along with each other to some degree but as long as the world has people who are ambitious (even in a small degree) they will always seek advantage over others.
Some people just presume that peace is the opposite of war, where war is where countries, army or people are fighting against each other and if they were not then that would be peace.
Unfortunately War can be a much more personal thing, it could be something that comes down to when me make a decision and we are just not sure which way to go with that decision then we are at war with ourselves and thus not at peace.
So i suppose it all comes down to what level of peace we are hoping for in this world.
If it is peace between countries, then yes it can happen, but peace for everyone, whether internal or external is something that can only exist in a utopian dream world.
Although that sounds really pessimistic, once people accept that fact then they will be less at war with themselves and thus a higher level of peace can be achieved.

Hi, nice to hear from you. Let me start by saying I really don't care what group you are with. But i would like to say a special hi, because like so many today, I honestly thought the quakers had disappeared. It's great to know that there is still such a group around. God bless you. I am born again but I do not belong to any denomination. Nor to any specific church. I do not hold anyone's beliefs against them except when those beliefs are that they can kill, steal, or destroy from others in any way shape or form because those are the beliefs of God's enemy and I stand against them. That said, making peace. Consider it done from me my friend. Whether you'll ever really join the many different religions of the world even in this area, I don't know but I for one would not fight with you. God's blessings upon you.

People of the world will never make peace, because there is no money in it.
And when someone offers the hand of friendship it is seen as a weakness.
Of course the other big thing is that all the time we have religion there will never be peace among us, because people have lost their way and would rather read a story book, and listen to rubbish, instead of having faith in God.
Love & Peace

Peace on Earth will never be possible due to diversity. All people are different and have different beliefs. Its in our nature to fight for what we believe. Call it FREE WILL. Its unfortunate but this is how things are. Just as their is Light there is Dark, Night and Day. We may have pockets of peace but there will always be War.

We can.
It's everyone else I'm worried about...
You can't force others to be peaceful since, by definition, forcing peace (or freedom) on others is removing it from them.
Every person must make this decision for themselves.
