Whenever we really want to achieve something it proves to be a failure. As if we were destined to fail in what we want to be good at. If He's out there, and allegedly looks at us all the time, why does it look like he is gone? We are said that if we pray we get something but it's not true to my mind. Shall I leave Him then?

(theist) Hi! I read your question about God on yahoo answers
(you) Hi.
(theist) Why don't you believe in God?
(you) Well religion is an invention from about 6000 years ago because people didn't understand scientific causes and the rich exploited that to keep the poor people down.
(theist) Oh thats a lie of Satan, do you prefer darkness to light?
(you) No, we have a scientific explanation for light.
(theist) Thats a lie. Don't believe everything you've been told. Jesus is the light.
(you) Is there any physical evidence of Jesus?
(theist) The Bible.
(you) But the Bible was written by people and changed when one person copied it.
(theist) Thats a lie. The Bible was inspired by God. Satan lies to seperate us from God.
(you) Well actually thats not true theres good evidence that people manipulated the Bible.
(theist) Thats a lie. Why do you want to go to hell? You need to believe. What have you got to lose.

I see some of the most hateful, vile, and just down right insulting answers and questions directed towards religious peoples beliefs from the same people over and over again.

If your one of these people who do this, why do you waste your time on here? Don't you have anything better to do than to get a quick laugh out of offending others?

And its not just the Atheists, some of you so-called christians and a few muslims do this as well.

Check out this website www.gaurdian.co.uk/aids/story for some interesting info about the power of the Catholic church in some countries, example in Kenya 20% of people have aids but the Catholic church reports to the people that condoms don't work, that they have holes in them and that they can cause aids. Is this right? What are your thoughts

For example, the "why are monkeys or apes still here?" question is completely baseless. Is it that our education systems are lacking? Is it the church's unwillingness to accept ideas that differ from their own teachings? I could care less if you believe that God made us out of dirt, but at least have the integrity to understand the concept that you deny.

Not too long ago someone wanted to get into an argument over whether or not the Bible was the infallible word of God. She believed it was. Instead of going with the yes/no format, I simply stated that it's a moot point, when the tool used to interpret the Bible (the reader's mind) is certainly fallible. It's the reason the Bible can be used to defend and condemn violence, nonviolence, slavery, freedom/liberty, gay people, women's "place", etc.
The Bible may never change, but how people look at it seems to change as often as fashion styles.

And since it is not the Bible I am facing, but people's actions based on their beliefs of what the Bible says, this is where energy should be devoted. She was uncomfortably silent. What do you think her response should have been.

The bible seems quite clear. Divorce is wrong. If you have to divorce, then remarriage is adultery. Sure, there is the Pauline Privilege and the Petrine Privilege (extreme cop-outs if you ask me) but those would not apply if you are both christians.

Why do we allow christians to get divorced and remarried? If we do believe that the bible is the word of God, then why do we selectively ignore what we want? How do we know which sections to follow ans which ones to ignore?

I was just wondering what other people were taught in school. Please include in your answer:

1.) Whether your high scool favored evolution or creationism
2.) Where your high school was located
3.) Whether your high scool was public or private
4.) Whether, if private, your school had any religious affiliation

For me, it was:
1.) evolution
2.) Florida
3.) private
4.) Roman Catholic (Jesuit)

There you are all warm and comfy in your grave and your pal Jesus shows up. "Lazarus, get up and make me something to eat. Get up! I need to borrow twenty bucks."
What a hassel.

You can not experience what anything is without having an opposite experience...tall is not tall without short....light is not light without darkness...happy is not happy without sad...If God was nothing but light he would have to create what he is not for me to know him when I see him...My question is simple, is it possible that it is all God's creation and that we should just show appreciation for the WHOLE Experience and by showing Gratitude and Appreciation that is all he wants from us....?

Intelligent Design will soon be ready for your school, but is your school ready for Intelligent Design? There is still work to be done, but very little time left to do it. Textbooks must be re-written, teachers must be retrained in the Glory of Intelligent Design. Don't let your children get left behind.
