I see some of the most hateful, vile, and just down right insulting answers and questions directed towards religious peoples beliefs from the same people over and over again.

If your one of these people who do this, why do you waste your time on here? Don't you have anything better to do than to get a quick laugh out of offending others?

And its not just the Atheists, some of you so-called christians and a few muslims do this as well.

Great point ,I totally agree.
Why can we just discuss without insult.
Oviously we are different in ideas and thinking, but we certainly need to control our manners when expressing our view.

How many atheists does it take to screw in a light bulb?

Actually i have noticed that Christians come back with some of the most hate filled answers. See, i always thought Christians were nice people (even though i don't appreciate them trying to convert me to their religion) But that was until i came on Yahoo!answer, Granted there are quite a few hate filled people in each religious group, including atheist but I have noticed the majority of the "hateful, vile and down right insulting," answers come from Christians.

added...Oh ya, It takes one atheist to screw in a light bulb, I've done it many of times, it's easier than you might think. All you have to do is twist to the left until it comes off then, get your new light bulb and twist to the right until it's tight (not too tight)...If you're still having troubles with it bill just email me and i will explain it more in-depth to you :)

You're right, some atheists are evil but then again, some Christians are ditto. I've seen some cruel things being put up by atheists and I think all of the mean atheists in the world couldn't even make a light bulb glow.

I myself am very Atheistic and I know the kind of person who would ask what you just did. We,like christian conservatives, have a sense of pride and self-confidence.It's just that we dont see eye to eye on issues.

Some do,some dont. But it is my experience a lot of atheists and agnostics went through some serious abuse and prejudice to get to where are now,and it hasn't been easy. There is a lot of abuse from religous types that they do not want to discuss.

A lot of this discussion is not about offending others, although any dissent view can be construed as abuse.

Wow, you were effective in drawing people to read what you really wanted to say. I agree actually. Sometimes there is a sort of harmless humor in the questions people post, but other times they are downright hateful and ignorant. But I will try answering the riddle/joke:
It takes one, but that one atheist has to take twice as long since there isn't a god to help them screw it in.

I agree with you, Bill! Unfortunately, I can't come up with a rationale for that kind of behavior without sounding snide, myself.

In my humble opinion, there are only two things: love and fear. You're either acting out of one or the other. I want to strive toward the first, but I admit that the second rears its ugly head once in awhile. All I can do is try to laugh at myself when it happens.

Hang in there; the end is assured.

PS- It takes two: one to believe he can do it, and the other to remind him that he's coming perilously close to faith!

The most hateful, bigoted outrages come from conservative Christians. They bash gay folks, Muslims, athiests, and democrats in general.

I think there is no god. I don't think you're an idiot for thinking there is a God. I don't think there is anything wrong with anyone's beliefs as long as they are just beliefs, and not a platform for denying rights, going to war, etc.

Why do you feel, you have a right to judge others because of thier belief systems?????

Are you without sin Bill?

Dont assume people of another belief system, are nasty and violent simply because they dont agree with you.....
Look into history, you will find its been mostly those of this so called "christian faith" that have caused most of the problems.

Or do you feel that you can shut your eyes to everything that you dont beleive is also a sin? Judging and pride are also sins bill, and if you dont beleive me, go back and read your bible......

Exactly! People are claiming they are "Godly" or spiritual/faithful etc yet, unfortunately, these same people are so quick to attack. There is defending ones beliefs, but it doesn't have to be done in such derogatory ways. Doing this just shows that these people really are not practicing what they preach.

Thanks for the post.

If you find it that hard to defend your beliefs, give up. If it is that hard, then your beliefs are probably wrong. As for screwing in a light bulb, well it only takes one, we can do things like screw in light bulbs, and wipe our @$$es without praying for the strength.
