Any suggestions? She's 42, Catholic, into girly things, etc.

We're hosting a Christmas Eve party this year on a limited budget. Any ideas for decorations, games, food, etc? We've never hosted a formal party before and both of our families are coming together for this one! We have a small tree and decorations for it, but not much else at this point.

Just kidding. But I did get this neat pic that shows a sign on the front of a house that says Merry Thanksgivoween Sept 1 thru Jan 1. It seems Christmas starts earlier and earlier every year.

My real question is: When is it too early to start the Christmas season?

Sorry to those of you who aren't Christian. But Jews have Hannaka, and Muslims have Rahmadan, and there's the Winter Solctise too. Whatever your December holiday, when is it too early to start celebrating it?

I have a dilemma with buying for my two kids...my son is 12 and my daughter is 9. They have both mentioned a few things they want but they are just ridiculously overpriced. I try to teach them to take care of the things that are important to them but it has yet to sink in. I've spent hundreds of dollars on gifts--and their dad too (we are divorced)-so they pretty much get what they want. I have considered not buying them anything this year and giving them money instead. I was hoping that if they were to buy the things they wanted they might take better care of their things. Is this a good or bad idea?? Does anybody have any other suggestions?
