Just kidding. But I did get this neat pic that shows a sign on the front of a house that says Merry Thanksgivoween Sept 1 thru Jan 1. It seems Christmas starts earlier and earlier every year.

My real question is: When is it too early to start the Christmas season?

Sorry to those of you who aren't Christian. But Jews have Hannaka, and Muslims have Rahmadan, and there's the Winter Solctise too. Whatever your December holiday, when is it too early to start celebrating it?

I've been accused of "rushing the season" this year because I put up our tree almost 2 weeks ago. I don't see why you couldn't start celebrating in Oct or the first of Nov especially if your not big on Halloween. I always decorate before Thanksgiving so the house is festive and inviting when family comes. And around here it's never too early to play Christmas music! My Mother goes through stores singing Christmas carols in the middle of July!!! It used to be so embarrassing when I was younger, and now I do it to my children. I've been listening to Christmas music online all year long...check out this website www.classicvinyl101.com they have Christmas music streaming 365 days a year! Christmas is basically about 3 things...Jesus' birth (most important!) family and fun. So do whats fun and make the neighbors think your crazy and decorate up a Christmas Storm!!! The earlier the better, you can enjoy it longer!

I think we should do away with holiday observation all together. Think about it, every day you can go online and read a story about some jerk who got offended by a baby Jesus, some Goblin in a yard, or a big fluffy Turkey made during a third grader's class. It's absolutely ridiculous out there. Let's just abolish all national, state, city, and corporate observation of any and all holidays and make it an individual thing only. You can't put up displays that others could see outside and anything you do should be done in the privacy of your own home. In order to prevent a visitor from being offended you have to have a disclaimer posted on your door and cannot let anyone inside that doesn't sign the disclaimer and have it notarized first.

Of course this is being facetious, but I wouldn't doubt it if something like this were attempted someday. It's getting that sad when it comes to our rights as U.S. Citizens to practice our religious beliefs.

Thanks for letting me vent.

It's hard to tread the line between enjoying the Holiday Season and going over the top. I personally start listening to Christmas music once November has started, but stave off of making Christmas cookies, doing Christmas shopping and putting up a Christmas tree until AFTER Thanksgiving. I'm just a really really big fan of Christmas music, it always puts me in a good mood. I say, do what makes you happy. Here in Western New York, we've already had powerful blizzards and snow storms, "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow"!

It's never too early to celebrate Christmas!!!! I am already listening to Christmas music. I don't celebrate Halloween because to me Christmas is such a wonderful time of the year. It's not about the gifts, it's a time for family, traditions, love, smells, cookies, and just spending quality time with your family. If more people would think about Christmas as the way it was intended instead of just gifts I think everyone would have a better holiday.

Truly, that is only up to you. I dont like the fact that they run the holidays one after another to make money. It gives no time in between. BUt, I am a full gospel Christian. I have no part in Halloween. I dont celebrate Christmas like most do. Dec 25, is not the day Jesus was born, and most Christians know that. But, we do celebrate the time of the resurrection of our risen Lord, of His birth, life , death and then the resurrection. We do that all year long, and dont get tied too much into the materialism of the holidays like most do. Its about Gods gift to us,not our gifts to each other. But, we do give small meaningful gifts to each other, that God supplies.
When you choose to begin your Christmas music is fully up to you. We play Christian music mostly, and then around mid December, we do the music that is about Jesus' birth. But, this is how we celebrate Christmas, which is a celebration that should be every day really. But, we honor his day, and we know that we dont know the exact day, tho they know it is in the spring, from Biblical description.
so, ask God how He wants you to do it, and then just do it. It isnt about what anyone else thinks. Its only what Gods thinks. Main thing is to remember what you are celebrating, and WHO. Same with Easter, its not about bunnies and eggs. that is about the resurrection of the Lord, as Christmas is about his birth. and thanksgiving????? thats a day of praise all day long to God for all He already has given us and continues to do. Each person needs to reflect and see just how much they have to thank God for. YOu will be surprized at how long the list. Just dont celebrate the holidays with no purpose or meaning, like most of the world. If we arent celebrating God, why do we go thru the motions of a pretend hoiday then?
Just celebrate those days of God , knowing who you celebrate and why, and turn your music on whenever you are ready. There is no Biblical answer for this. Just enjoy.
God bless you for your question, it makes us think.

in my opinion, Christmas music should start being played on the day after thanksgiving at the earliest. same with putting up christmas decorations and other christmas-y things.

Two exceptions: You can start shopping for gifts as soon as you like, because you're more likely to be able to find stuff at decent prices (for example, this year, it's almost impossible to buy a Tickle Me Elmo TMX, even though Christmas isn't for another two months.) Also, if you play an instrument, you can (and probably should) start practicing christmas music before thanksgiving so you can perfect it in time foir christmas concerts and such.

~P.S. I love your picture!!!!

I'm having an alright day...I guess. I'm on winter break so it's good. I woke up at 8am and did not feel good. Went back to sleep until 1pm. Watched a movie with my Dad and my Mom came home and took my temp. I have a fever and feel crappy :( She made me yummy soup though. Today is OK I get to eat and be lazy all day and be in PJ's. I just don't feel so good. At least my stomach doesn't hurt though, just conjested and a sore throat.

I wait to do anything that has to do with Christmas until the day after Thanksgiving. It seems like people forget about Thanksgiving and jump right from Halloween to Christmas. Holidays are getting really comercialized and we all need to slow down and remember what they are truely about...

December is the really only time to play Christmas music; But if there is some Christmas music that you like you can play it when ever you like.

Celebrate as soon as your immediate friends will let you. One of my friends is a Christmas fanatic and the rule is: after her early November birthday, she can play carols. If it makes you happy and you don't drive everyone else up the wall, go for it!
