I HATE it!! It trivializes the moments and rushes everything along, like we can't just be happy where we are in the moment and enjoy the things particular to each season without it being a merchandizing extravaganza!!!!

The stores around here only have half of their Christmas stock out yet and they didn't start until earlier this month.
It doesn't bother me in the least. There are people who like to spread out their purchases and shop around before they decide on anything, especially if it is expensive. Because you can go broke or into debt with impulse shopping. People are going to whine and complain no matter what the stores do, whether they put the seasonal merchandise out early or "late" because the entire month of December is very hectic for most, which doesn't leave alot of time to shop. If it bothers you that much, don't shop at that store.
And for the record, I have never seen summer/gardening merchandise in January other than at a hardware store.

It's just how retail works. I have worked at a store for seven years. As soon as the seasonal merchandise hits the shelves I shop. Then, I can sit back and just laugh the crowds and the craziness as my gifts will be wrapped and ready to go by Thanksgiving!

Not me...I like it and so do a lot of other people. Stop griping and just don't go to that part of the store. I'm really tired of all of the complaining about this subject. I don't like the hardware and tools departments in the store but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be there, I also don't like the automotive department but it's there too. Get over it and walk on by.
And please....stop making it seem like making money is a bad thing...store sell stuff, they also employ people...not only the people that work there but the people who manufacture the stuff. Christmas is a huge part of the success of the economic system. Don't forget, unlike you little brats with your hand out to Mom and Dad for money, people have to work for that money and if people don't spend money there's no money to earn.

I used to be but I'm not any longer. When my family (adults) used to buy gifts I would try to buy gifts throughout the year; especially if I saw something that made me think of a particular person.
I wasn't always ambitious enough to do this but you know what I liked about it? I wrapped the gifts when I got them and so at Christmas I was just as surprised as the the recipient.

I am, I am!!!!!
It bothers me to see Halloween stuff in stores in August and I dislike seeing Thanksgiving items in the store in September (oh wait....does Thanksgiving even exist any more, or do we go from Halloween right to Christmas?) and then there is Christmas being advertised in October.
And whoever heard of buying a Christmas tree 30 days before Christmas (the day after Thanksgiving). Why???? So it can burn up before the holiday that it was intended for????? That is why there are so many Christmas tree fires.

No. What I AM bothered about are people that constantly moan about Christmas and the follow-up thereof. If you don't like it, nobody's forcing you to buy from the displays. You can't blame the shops for trying to tap in to a goldmine; if there was gold under your lawn, I bet you'd be reaching for a shovel!

It does bother me, but the stores are out there to make money. So if they leave the items out there with that theme for a while, the concept is that people will start to buy things earlier.
