Carnival (farewell to meat) does have a connection with either Christmas or Lent... How do we know WHEN it's going to be???

Carnival starts the Saturday before Lent begins and goes until Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday or the day before Ash Wednesday).

Lent is the 40 days leading up to Easter.

Easter is on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox.
