i agree with the many that said have a "winter celebration" that way there is not religion and no holidays, since there are people who do not celebrate holidays either. have the class make paper snowflakes before the party, that way you can hang all the snowflakes from the ceiling of the classroom so it is decorated for the winter party. have the children make snowmen. have some hot chocolate and some cookies, some crackers and cheese. if you live somewhere where there will be snow outside take a little time out of the party to go outside and sled or make snowmen. if you don't live somewhere where you will have snow outside, have everyone bring in gloves, a winter hat, and a scarf to wear in the class room during the party. play songs that are associated with winter and not christmas. hope i helped a little :)

I would suggest possibly having a "day of holidays", and discuss different traditions and such of the many different holidays that are associated with the winter holidays. Bring in food from the different types of holidays, maybe, and use the power of movies. This would also be a great way to incorporate diversity within the classroom.
By the way, for those having trouble with grasping the concept of Christ not being taught in the classroom, how would you feel if they taught Kwanzza and Channakuh , but not Christmas? Seperation of Church and State means exactly that, seperating religion from public institutions such as schools.

A sad, joyless one.
Seriously, think CRAFTS. Go to your local Hobby Lobby or Michael's and see what crafts they have that would be suitable for children that age. Plus, you can sing nonreligious Christmas songs like Jingle Bells or Frosty the Snowman.
Nonreligious Christmas symbols (or at least the religion is covert and mostly forgotten) include the following: holly, ivy, wreaths, snowmen, bells, stockings, candles, Christmas trees, nutcrackers.
If you're allowed to take noncandy snacks, try cut fruit. Most kids love fruit, and you don't have to be worried about allergies like you would with nuts. Find out if it's only candy or if it's all kinds of sweets, too. If it's only candy, they may let you take cupcakes or cookies. Otherwise, you can do nonsweet things like cheese straws. Take ginger ale to drink, it's like bubbly and most kids find it waaaay more sophisticated than soda. I did when I was a child!
Good luck with your attempt to offend no one!

You can put up a holiday tree which is for real OK they can't say nothing about this You have to word it as such HOLIDAY TREE. Now to decorate it each child can make a decoration at home to bring to put on the tree or do in during arts and crafts as a project one which you will decide who did the best or worst on and on. OK as for not handing out gifts you can give out pencils because every child needs a pencil or crayons for school and it isn't a gift per say it is a token of your appreciation for a job well done up to this point. You can get around anything it is all in the wording and how you approach your subject

I have an eleven year old who has never gone to public school due to this exact reason. I believe that if you take Christ out of your life, your life isn't worth living. Why subject your children to the ways of the world. Thank God, for I have been Blessed enough to care about my kids and there spiritual needs before worrying about what atheists think. So as an answer to the question of a Christmas party without Christ, there is no such thing and I am grateful not to have atheists like yourself having an impact on my children's lives.

It's truly amazing that you can't celebrate "CHRISTmas" without religion. I understand the school district doesn't allow it but that is truly sad. That should be what Christmas is about...we won't let our kids know about that but we do let them believe in a fat old guy flying around the world sneaking into kids homes to give them presents...the world
ANYWAY....to answer your question....I would call it a winter celebration. GO to Michaels and they have crafts there. Get them to make door hangers with snowmen on them. Crafts are fun and they will enjoy it!

Actually, you might want to look up the origin of Xmas. It's based in religion, although it actually has nothing to do w/ Jesus' birth. It's pretty fascinating.
Why not a "Season's Greetings" party instead? Make it a winter theme, with snowmen, evergreen frosted cupcakes, snowflakes & fake frost in the windows, stuff like that? Songs like "Winter Wonderland" & "Jingle Bells", etc. have nothing to do w/ religion or Xmas.
Have a great party!

Simply put.. do not celebrate Christmas with the kids. the X you used to spell Christmas, just takes the CHRIST out of Christmas. Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. So, if you dont believe it or want to celebrate what the day means, why do you celebrate it at all? I just cringe to think of how all of you in charge of teaching our children are so willing to accept the ways of the world. We supposedly cant bring Christianity into the schools, but boy oh boy, can they bring in the devil , example currently is Halloween. I just watched a thing on the news at a school, with teachers and students dressed as withches, ghosts, devils, etc. all parding around the school, dancing and acting all werid? We can do that, but we cant bring in Jesus. All who give into this, will have to answer to God. This is why I took my kids out of public schools and put in Christian schools, and Now I would only homeschool. We will be accountable for what we teach our kids, or lets others teach them. Wake up america. a xmas party?????? Who is the X you will be celebrating because it sure isnt Jesus Christ. Just have a party, with noone to celebrate. thats a kool idea.

Since this is for school children and every child may not celebrate Christmas I would have a party to celebrate the time of year WINTER! It would be a good time to show them how to create crafts based on snowmen (made out of cotton balls), paper snowflakes, pictures of what winter means to them, etc. For simple and cheap craft ideas I always go to Oriental Trading. As for snacks you can prepare items like snow balls, blue punch, a white pizza with colored toppings.

I would have a volunteer Santa come to your class as a surprise and have him hand out Coloring books or little story books. Thats always fun. Decorate a little tree and have them sit around it and sing christmas songs. Get christmas cookies and have some fruit punch for the party .
