Etiquette - October 2006

My wife & son went out to dinner the other night. It's a reasonably nice place and I well expected to spend $100 for the three of us. We were seated and the waiter came to our table...we could tell right away that this waiter had a little bit of an attitude...just not an overly nice person and we felt a little uncomfortable.

Question: Would it have been alright to ask for another waiter...or leave and come back...we just wondered what the right thing to do...after all it is our money?

The question is...What would you do if you found out that your spouse of 17 years has recently opened a secret bank account in their name only?

You've paid for your purchases, and the cashier gives you back too much change. Would you give it back, or just think it's your lucky day? (I gave it back, by the way.)

This is the 6th time we need to repair my brothers computer in 10 months and by now we are fed up so I called the customer service to see if they can just give us the go ahead to exchange this computer. It is obviously faulty. It is still under a 3 year warranty. The people at customer service keep giving us the run around and want us to keep repairing it. I reamed the guy out and said this is last time we will EVER buy a computer from them! Ooo, they make me soo mad.

So, do you ever do that and do you feel bad afterwards?

I am not feeling bad now..I just want this issue taken care of those motherf*ckers.

A lot of restaraunts have tips jars at the counter so that when people pick up their order to go, they can still leave a tip. Some of them even have signs saying something like "To go tips are appreciated." I have always thought that when you tip in a restaraunt, you are tipping for the service, not the food. So when you pick up an order to go, is it rude not to tip since they haven't really waited on you?

My wife and I just had a baby (she is 4 months old). My wife has three classes left to finish her degree we only have one car and I have to drive her to class. So for her night class I stick around campus and I go to the computer lab. I make sure I go to one that is not quiet study it is marked as group and you are allowed to talk openly and loudly. If she cries I take her out but she is babbling and talking allot. I have not gotten any rude looks or remarks but I wonder what people think. What would you think if some guy was in the back of the lab with a baby that is talking and playing with her toys?

Needless to say, I don't smoke. I never did and smoke really annoys me. I hate to be exposed to so much smoke when I don't smoke. But I have a part-time job now and in a month I'll start working there full-time. As there are many teachers (this is a teaching job) in the institution, the rooms are very crowded. The manager put me in a room with two other teachers who excessively smoke. They've been working there for a long time and I don't see myself in a position to tell them not to smoke in the room. But the smoke really bugs me. How can I get out of this situation? I can't ask for a room change at this moment as I don't know what awaits me in other rooms, and moreover apart from smoking I like my roommates.

Every time I take my sweet little 18 month old to a playground, inevitably there is some little brat kid who acts up. The mother (usually fat as a cow) is either nowhere to be found or chatting away with another chain-smoking heffer. The little brat will shove other kids, and pull things out of their hands. I lose my mind because THIS IS WHERE THE BULLYING STARTS. God help you if I am at that playground because I YELL at your little animals. If you don't discipline them I WILL. Watch your damned kids. For the rest of you good parents out there, do the same. Take back this damned country.
