God, I really dislike those people. I usually don't have to lie to them telling them I don't want the service they are offering... so I will give the a chance to end the call and if they don't I simply hang up on them.
Here is a very funny website, basically advertising a cd, but has actual clips of this guys telemarketing calls, Revenge of theTele-marketers.

I never thought I would say this, but I actually miss telemarketers. The real live ones, not those stupid machines.
I have always, along with my family, messed with them. We dont yell or get rude because my sisters and I have both worked that job. However we dont mind messing with their heads, its a lot of fun. Though I have to say my sister is the master.
So I dont think its wrong to lie to them. As long as you arent trying to actually utilize what they are selling and then you lie.

It's alway wrong to lie. If you don't want telemarketers to bother (because that's what they mainly do, bother people) you anymore, ask them to remove you from their telemarketing list. Be sincere and honest with everyone trying to hurt the least and trying not to be cruel.

I don't like to be called by telemarketers but why lie to them, just tell them your not interested and you would not like to be called again, their suppose to put your number on a no-call list, which who knows if they do or not,

No its not wrong to lie to them but it doesn't help get rid of them they just refile your # and have someone else call you back. The same goes for hanging up on them they just refile your # and have someone else call you back.
the do not call list really doesn't help all that much either cause it takes 3 months from the time you ask to get on it to be on it, and the first time you sign up for anything on line a magazine a credit card your back on them. If you have business with a company they can still contact you even if you on the list.
What you need to do is first off dint hang up ask them to take you off the list and ask for proof of being taken off the list.
Second dint think telling them off will make them mad they just hang up with you and refile your number just to piss you off more. And depending on what state you live in if you say no thanks they can say anything to you other than their name and # and have a nice day. I know Pa is what they call a no rebuttal state and so is Utah.
Just think these people are just doing their job and alot of them rant teens or college students some of them are trying to support a family by doing this hell i made 1500 a week doing it

It's not really wrong but if you want them to stop calling just tell them straight out to remove you from their calling list. Give them the reason your not interested and they won't call back. If you don't give them a reason your call will go back into rotation. It's policy. Trust me. I'm a former Telemarketer

I just tell them politely that I'm not interested. Telemarketers have such a tough job because everyone is mean to them, so I try to be nice, even if I really don't care to talk to them.

When it comes to telemarketers, anything goes. The best thing to do is to hang up while you're talking. They won't think you hung up because who would hang up on themselves?

You have to remember that that is simply their job. They are trying to make a living just like you and me. I know they are EXTREMELY annoying and nosy and persistent and as hard as you may try to be nice some just won't stop. If you cared enough to post this, then I'm sure it bothers you to be mean to them and that's a good thing it shows you're a nice person. Just politely say "I'm not interest please take me off your list, I'm sorry but I'm going to hang up" and just hang up. That way you weren't mean, you didn't lie and you got what you wanted out of it.

Well of course it wrong to lie, but it sure is fun when it comes to telemarketers.
Tip: When they call you and there is a pause, wait for them to say "Hello?" Then you say: "Is Jim there?"
I've done this several times, and actually had one tell me I must've dialed the wrong number.
