Good question! The person bringing your food out to you isn't really SERVING you like a waitor would inside, they're just DELIVERING; even some fast food restaurants do carside service, and you certainly don't tip at those places. I would say maybe ask the manager of one of those restaurants what is considered appropriate in that situation. If you do tip them, I doubt it would be as much as the usual 15% for eating inside. Maybe just a buck or two? Dunno......

Think of it this way, how much work did YOU have to put into that meal?
The staff cooked it,boxed it,made sure the whole order was there and all of the extras(sides, condiments, plastic ware, etc..)were included.
Then they put it in your hot little hand.RIGHT?
All the while taking care of inside customers who were more likely to tip, but maybe got a little neglected because they were busy with your take-out order.
ALWAYS TIP !!

I think it would be appropriate. Not as high as a percent as if you were to sit down and eat, but the person still had to put in the order and then bag it up and bring it to your car. That's time they could've been using to wait tables.

I always do...cuz they're running in and out the door sometimes in rain, steamy hot weather, or freezing cold bringing people food in addition to their other duties. Just glad I didn't have to get out.

I would say yes, but probably less than I normally tip ... I would probably only leave 10 percent.

I would not think so, because it's not really delivery...they just sort of bring it outside. You actually have to drive there, so really, they should tip u.
