I mean we do all the work

If my wife gave me the only seat, I would feel like a complete and total jerk. Whether people want to believe it or not, men and woman are instinctively, physically, and emotionally different. It is part of human nature for men to want to protect and watch over women. I would rather my wife have the seat on a bus because I know I can stand longer without getting tired.

It sounds to me like you are either trying to get a rise out of some of the ladies in Yahoo Answers-ville, or you really aren't much of a man. I honestly think the answer is the first one..."I mean we do all the work" has "I'm trying to be a jackass on purpose" written all over it.

For the record...a good hearted and selfless woman will always refuse the seat once before excepting it to show that they aren't completely selfish...

Whatever happened to chivalry? anyone heard of that? I don't give a rat's *** if the woman makes more than the man. Money and material possesions aren't what truly makes a person happy. It's only polite that the man open car doors, let the lady go first, let the lady have the seat, and for crying out loud, pay for dinner, even if the woman makes more. It's too bad this art is fading away. I know my kids will continue this tradition. The only thing I'm worried about is if the woman they are dating will know how to appreciate it.
It's called manners ladies. It's sad that most of you wouldn't know it if it slapped you in the face.

Well if you do all the work then you are doing something wrong, sure i goto work and earn a few buck's, but would much prefer to do that everyday, than have to be at home looking after the kids, cleaning the house, cooking, washing and taking care of everything. Jeez' my job is great, i meet my friends, do work that i enjoy and my wife takes care of the home. I know i have the better deal of the two; so buying flowers, helping her on with her coat, opening doors, ect, ect, is a very small price to pay for a great women in my life.

Seat should be given up for the elderly, handicapped, or someone that cannot stand due to medical problems. Otherwise it is first come first taken. Male or female has nothing to do with it. Men ahve never done ALL the work ever. Get a life.

I think whoever is more able-bodied should give the seat to the other person, even if it's a woman giving the seat to the man.

Dude, I'm going to tell you one thing right now. Women may want all of the good coming from "equal rights"...but don't expect her to have to do anything for you that is going to inconvenience herself.

If you come on a public bus with 3 out of your 4 limbs broken, prepare to find some way to stand up...or wait for a fellow man to stand up if he feels sorry enough for you.

It's pretty sad, I know.

My husband was carrying our child in one of those strap on baby carriers and a nice lady gave up her seat on the subway for him. He tried to say no but the little old asian woman looked like she was going to slap him so he sat down.

I have given my seat to elderly men, men with babies and little kids, and men with heavy tools they were carrying. Other than that NO. If you are young, stand up for goodness sake (Men & Women)! There may come a day when you will not be able to do so!

Uh.. no. Chivalry, dude... chivalry. Since the dawn of time, it's never mattered who does the most work. Sometimes the man does, sometimes the woman does - what does it matter? A man is to treat his lady like a queen, regardless if she acts like one or not. That will never change, nor would I ever hope for it to.
