On Saturady morning, a friend and I were scheduled to meet for coffee. He brought his 8 year old daughter with him. All that morning, the kid kept playing this little game of waiting for me to start to say something, and then cutting me off in mid-sentence, to get her father talking to her about another topic. Once or twice I could have overlooked, but this happened constantly throughout our time together. Her father never once corrected her, or told her to wait until I was finished talking. Finally, when I was taking them home, she did it for what must have been at least the 30th time (I am not exaggerating!) and I yelled, "WOULD YOU SHUT HER UP ALREADY?!" She got tearyeyed, and I apologized. But I didn't appreciate her father saying to her, "You'll have to be quiet honey, "Rhino" isn't used to being around little kids." I'll admit I should not have yelled like I did, but I also think he should have said something to her way before it had gotten to that point. Any thoughts?

I'm from California. I entered this question a few weeks ago complaning about all the chattalk the American teens use in stating their questions, and answers. I had the occasion to log onto this website in the wee hours, and found the UK kids dominating the site. The questions were the same like "How do I know he likes me?", "Will she call back?", and "How do I tell my parents I'm in love?". And all the questions had proper punctuation, good grammar, and correct spelling. So lots of kudos to our cousins across the pond, and thumbs down to the American kids who are too lazy to use proper English. u no wht i mean?

My friend was told by a foreman last week that he and others were to be paid off on Friday 13th October. So far, they have not received a letter confirming this from the employer, the local Council. Does that mean that the Council owe the guys a weeks pay in lieu of notice.

halter top, no bra...and, of course, no wedding band or engagement ring and never mentioned the fact that I have a husband..... I bought a pack of the Virginia Slims 120's because of their long length and smoke them seductively throughout the night in a showy manner....my tips went from $127 the first night to $174 the next...I think the long cigarettes helped a lot over my 100's I smoked the first night....as a couple of guys made comment on how cute they were and my tips, of course, increased...any other suggestions...I think I have pushed the act to the limit..but if anyone has any other ideas I would be happy to try them to increase my earnings...my coworkers said these little tricks help to make more money...seems to...

I am a supervisor at my workplace, and one employee in particular (not under my supervision), is absolutely out of control. He acts like a misbehaving little boy - always seeking attention. He assumes that when his behavior upsets anyone it is because "they are in a bad mood," although he can't figure out why his behavior would put anyone in a bad mood. I have spoken with his immediate supervisors (who really rank above me in the small business I work in, although the employee in question is below me in rank). Nothing is being done.

For example, this morning when I arrived he had a BB gun and made a point of targeting me with it.

Please, no suggestions that I bend him over my knee and spank him like the little boy he is, or that I put him in a corner. He would probably see these as some kind of sexual game to be enjoyed.

I love my job (other than this employee), and am at wit's end about what to do!

When I see many women celebrities on TV, like on David Letterman or Jay Leno, especially the ones who wear nice dresses, most of them sit down with their legs crossed. I don't know why they sit like that. If you ladies do sit like that, can you explain why do sit that? It's that almost every women have a habit of how they sit

hey everyone,
This year I graduated and I started applying for jobs but nothing really satisfied me..I was actually waiting for my uncle to ask me to work with them like they did with my sis..but they didn't!!! so my dad told me he can call my uncle and ask him if it's ok to work with them..well the job has many advantages..the salary is good and it's near my house but it has one disadvantage, My Cousin..My sister told me he can't run family business successfully + he's cheap and a little rude and stubborn and if he managed this family business instead of my uncle who'll retire next december, the business will be screwed and prolly the salary will be less, also the company has no employees at all it's just my cousin and my sis and my other cousin who left the job this month..so what do u think, should I go for it and work with them or not..also do u find it embarrassing that my dad calls them and asks them to make me work with them or not??

I do this ! I ended up dating a fashion model this way . Why all the attitude and paranoia ? I used to see older people do it all the time.Strike up conversations with others they don't know. I'm not that old either . I mean, wouldn't it be nice to see people on a bus ,tram or train being a little more sociable . Even for the sake of just being polite .

If the answer is "This is culture", then I will still argue
what is the culture based on?
To treat well and politely, respectfully among people, right?

to tip as to I'm a waitress and am wondering what the he** is wrong with some people? First of all always tip on the total WITH TAX (that goes against us too). Always always tip atleast 15%- service may not have been EXTRAORDINARY but we are not your servents, just servers, so maybe you weren't not only a reasonable customer, but person in general-it's called manners and respect. I know how it is waiting on ridiculous customers, no onions well pick them off, I do it with my fingers anyway-refills every 2 minutes, give me a break! We don't really make hourly, so we live off your tips so NEVER leave less than $5? Seriously your $2 won't even buy a gallon of gas! If you tip anything less than 15% than you are a waste of time and a piece of scum. It's just rude to do that, if you can't afford it then DON'T go out to eat. I'm sorry, I'm not bitter, It just sucks when you get people who don't know what its like and don't care, good service=good tip 20% + Am I right or wrong-what do u think?

Do you find yourself becoming less tolerant and less giving as you get older as a direct result of your experiences?
