I am a supervisor at my workplace, and one employee in particular (not under my supervision), is absolutely out of control. He acts like a misbehaving little boy - always seeking attention. He assumes that when his behavior upsets anyone it is because "they are in a bad mood," although he can't figure out why his behavior would put anyone in a bad mood. I have spoken with his immediate supervisors (who really rank above me in the small business I work in, although the employee in question is below me in rank). Nothing is being done.

For example, this morning when I arrived he had a BB gun and made a point of targeting me with it.

Please, no suggestions that I bend him over my knee and spank him like the little boy he is, or that I put him in a corner. He would probably see these as some kind of sexual game to be enjoyed.

I love my job (other than this employee), and am at wit's end about what to do!

He will go too far very soon. When he does, be there to deal the death blow.

Bringing a BB gun to work and targeting another co-worker should be grounds for at least disciplinary actions. If he's willing to bring a BB gun, then he's probably willing to bring a real one. There has to be a comp[any policy against that...at least I would hope so. If you get no satisfaction from his immediate supervisors, I suggest you bypass them and go to *their* supervisors. Yes, you do run the risk of being a squeaky wheel, as someone suggested, but someone like mentioned, but I also think you have the right to try and protect not only yourself, but your other co-workers. Good luck. You're going to need it.

Speak with his supervisor then and tell them if they don't get a handle on him you're going to the top. That kind of behavior in the workplace is disruptive and counter-productive. Their lack of willingness or ability to control the employee will not be looked upon favorably by upper management if it does get to their level. Which will then give upper management TWO problems to deal with... him and them.
Spell it out to his supervisors that way. I think they'll get the message.

Remember... squeaky wheel sometimes gets replaced; you run a high risk of this.

Unless you are in physical danger (BB Gun) and will go outside of your place of work (Labour Board) to bring attention to this matter you are eventually going to be annoying everyone around you. Then the question becomes: Who is the problem here? If your superiors aren't interested in the matter - let it go.

Don't sweat the small stuff!

Your employer should have a weapons policy in place....

In this day and time he should be fired for having the BB gun there.....Or at the least be severely reprimanded...

Once you've told mgm't about it .....Usually you have no recourse except to ask to be transfered.....Or find new employment...

Tell the kid to grow up!
Ignore his tactics & perhaps he will grow weary of them.
