I was in a department store parking lot and seen a woman slap a child a few times excessively hard but i didn't want to get involved. Should i have said something? If she were bold enough to do something like that in public could it be worse at their home?

I work for a dating service and call people who fill out profiles online and email them to us. I called a woman who I've called several times and I usually just get hung up on. This time when I called her, she picked up the phone and screamed as loud as she could into my ears. I wear a headset and my volume was turned all the way up. This scared me AND hurt my ears and gave me a headache. I called her back (using a blocked number) and got her answering machine and said "Hi this is ___ from ____ dating service. I understand that you are upset with this company, however, YOU were the one who went online and sent us your information requesting our service and we are simply returning your call. If you're not interested, you have had the ability to let us know. We have left you several messages with our #, so you could call us back and request to be added to a do not call list. You have chosen rather to take a more immature approach and scream at our representatives, so don't be mad

Let's say you buy a friend a shirt that you really like too. Is it wrong to buy the same style of shirt for yourself even if it's in a different color? Or if you buy them a brand of make-up that works well for you and you buy two gift baskets... one for the friend and one for yourself. Is it considered rude, fine, or indifferent?

When this answer site started, it seemed like a great way to interact with people. However, in the 8 or so weeks that I have participated, I notice now more than ever, most of the questions are outright silly, rude, demeaning or just plain ignorant. Yes, I am guilty too, I have answered in ways that werent appropriate-unfortunately. So here's the question: Have you asked a serious question or responded to a serious question, only to have some sarcasm-laced diatribe posted? Is this fun anymore? Why or why not?

Just got back from a walk at the park with my family. I made eye contact and said "Hi" to several people. Why do they look at me as though I have 3 eyes and keep walking without saying anything in return? What is so hard about using simple manners? What's wrong with people?!

There's a Burger King commercial that has midgets using construction equipment to stack up cheeseburgers. It seems to promote midget stereotypes and I don't understand why the Little People of America (sort of a NAACP for midgets) hasn't protested it. People need to understand that filthy little midgets are people too.

My friend has offered her place for my graduation party, I'm supplying food. She's been buying things and acquiring lawn furniture that she will keep afterwards. Now she wants to invite some of her friends (who I don't know) because she doesn't know anyone on the invite list. Why would I want strangers at my graduation party? To everyone invited it looks as though she's totally hosting the deal. Should I just suck it up and enjoy meeting new friends or should I say "No?" Or should I ask her to pitch in for the food? (Neither of us are overburdened with money right now.)

In a customer service situation (and it probably depends on the business) but here's the question: If a customer is having an issue and is being unreasonably rude or the employee thinks the customer is not justified in his/her complaint, would the employee EVER have cause to talk back to the customer? Has anyone (from the position of an employee) ever done this (talked back)?

I just broke up with this guy right. I liked him for about a minute but then it got old. I knew for a while that I didn't want to be with him, and during that period of time I grew to hate him. He was just so obnoxious. Like I really can't stand him. Well, like a typical highschool teenage situation, there was this huge scandelous drama that unfolded last night and I ended up having to call him to talk to him about something, and three way my best friend into it. I got off the phone because he just wouldn't shut up. Like he rambles SOOO much about nothing important. Well I had to talk to my best friend so I called her back and she was still on the phone with him, and so she said she'd call me back when she got off. Well I talked to him today and he said they were on the phone till FOUR THIRTY in the morning! Plus they're hanging out today? I mean, I really can't stand the guy. He's a great guy, but I hate him. Is she violating some girl code of ethics? Or am I just paranoid? ugh.
