This phrase is uttered with no inflection which sounds like it's not really meant. It makes me think of Bon Jovi's song.
What ever happened to "thank you"? Aren't businesses grateful for our business anymore?

Okay, call me old fashion, but WHY don't guys take off their caps/hats anymore when they enter a building?? I think that is terrible. I even see this in churches. Come on parents...let's get with it! Anyone agree?

The only reason for me it's there to irriate the s**t out of subordiantes.

To 'move the goal posts' (my boss used to say to 'change the goal posts' which amused me).

Answer me this... I am taking a martial arts class, and we have to change togeather. I noticed that averyone wears underwear. I do not. Is it appropriate or not to flash my goods or not. There is a small detail to why I have this question. All the other class mates are from what I have noticed, straight, and I am not. That is why I am asking. Not that I am interested in anything but what the class has to offer me. I just dont know if it would make other uncomfortable. What do you think?

I've been taught that only Med doctors or teachers should use their academic Phd as a title. Engineer friend insists we call him by first name or his title, never just Mr.

sounds pretentious to me....

I hate sitting next to someone on the train who keeps sniffing. I wonder why they don't just blow their nose. I always do and although it can be loud at least it's quick. A guy on the train had a tissue in his hand and was sniffing non-stop for about 30 mins. Maybe I'm too sensitive of these things!

I feel that they are just asking these types of questions to get attention, and they are winning by us giving it to them.
The laugh is on us!

Who agrees w/ me that we should just move on and not answer them?

Let me know what you think?

I have been a summer intern for a company and my last day is Friday. I want to thank the people that I have been working with for helping me with everything and being so nice. I'm only sixteen and they are all older than me by at least 15 years, so I really appreciate them not treating me like a child.

I'd like to have something delivered here for all of them. Do you all have any good ideas?

We live far away from them but we get together for family activities many times a year. I recently was shocked by a hate filled comment. I think that if I confront them I am setting myself up for a lifetime of conflict with these people. I know there is no way to change their minds but I am so bothered by this I have not been able to get it off my mind. With my family and with others I have always spoken up but this isn't my family and it's not within my power to remove them from my life. Before I knew about the racism I thought these people were the coolest people on Earth. Now I just want to avoid the person who said this with all my being. At this point I think all I can do is wait for an opportunity to let them know that I have had many black friends and growing up that is ALL I had! What do I do if they don't take the Hint and refrain from saying those offensive things in front of me? If I don't have a plan I'll just lose it on these people and that won't help anyone.

My GF and I have almost no friends to go out with. Why? Well, everyone has children. They can’t seem to resolve their baby sitter issues, no matter what. We don’t know anyone that is child free. Every time we go out with anyone, one of the following has to happen:

Nobody can get away before 5:00, because of their kids. So we have to go out when restaurants are at their busiest.
The other party will take 3 or 4 calls from their dysfunctional children.
The other party will be a hour, or more late.
The other party will surprise us, by showing up with one or more screaming children. This can cut the evening short becuase many places do not allow children after a certain hour of the evening.

We have somewhat resolved the tardiness issue by telling other parties to call us when they get to the destination. We will then make sure we arrive within 10 min. That way they can get a small taste of what it is like to wait.

...there are 3 checkboxes in the RSVP note,

1) Will be attending ceremony
2) Will be attending evening banquet
3) Will not attend

also, let's say you are an introvert (and most likely will not know anyone else at the party), which of the three options would you check off?

Note: person getting married is a good guy who you went to college with.

I think thats a common misconception. Me personally I don't want to talk "White" so to say all the time. There is a place for it, like interviews, introductions things like that becasue it's polite. I'm still black and part of being Black is how we speak. So because it's different do you think we are all uneducated that choose to speak that way from time to time?

From as long as i can rememeber, my parents always told me it was respectful and dignified to remove my hat when ever you or someone else was prayer. But i find these days hardly anyone seems to do it? i rememeber at school if we where outside for assembly or for some reason, i would be one of a very few people, all the staff included who would remove my hat for Pray. This really annoyed me seeing i went to a christian school especially, but no matter what, its good manners to remove your hat during a prayer, why are people stopping doing it?

I find it so frustrating, rude, disrepectful and annoying when people disrubt a minutes silence that is in memory of someone who has passed away. I was watching an All blacks vs. Wallabies game the other day, and while they where observing a minutes silence some wallaby fun shout out a very loud and rude, "GO THE WALLABIES". I must say i was terribly ashamed to be a wallabies fan at that moment.

But even all through school for rememberence day, or anzac day people would talk constantly or whisper and it really frustrates me even though i may have had absolutely no connection to the deceased. Anyone else get irritated by this?

what is your attitude to personal remarks-see also my question on people making remarks about my irish nationality.i once warned my mate because he was constantly harping on about my pot belly.it was heartbreaking for me as athough i dieted and exercised in those days i did not know that getting control of your sugars was the first step to dropping htat midriff fat-my pal is naturally slim around the middle and he started embarrassing me in front of other people;i tried everything and in the end i told him if he mentioned again he was out
here's the problem;it is important ot be sensitive to other people but where do ypu draw the line to avoid killing hte conversation completely?-one of he replies i got to my question about the 'retard acquaintances' as i descrived them who refer to my irishness earned a rebuke from smom who said it was insulting to people who have 'genuine development difficulties'-suely this is a good example of going to far in the opposite direction -tell me
