Okay, call me old fashion, but WHY don't guys take off their caps/hats anymore when they enter a building?? I think that is terrible. I even see this in churches. Come on parents...let's get with it! Anyone agree?

It bothers me very much. Granted it's just a custom, but I go nuts. I've sat down and thought about this. People went crazy when women started wearing slacks instead of skirts and dresses and when men stopped tipping their hats. A lot of our customs and traditions have gone by the wayside, and slowly we adjust to it. I remember being taught how to answer the telephone when I was in school. When I hear people in business answer the phone, I just cringe. I'm surprised that Yahoo questions has the category "etiquette". It is not valued at all in our society. The pace of life in our country is fast. Courtesy just doesn't fit into the picture anymore.

It doesn't bother me if it's a random building like guys wear caps around campus all the time but in a church wow that just doesn't seem right. Where else I guess in a restaurant it wouldn't really bother me either or a post office a mall a grocery store no I guess it's not that big a deal.

I agree...I always make my boys that off their hats at public functions, unless it's something like a ballgame. Some don't even remove their hats when saying the pledge or singing the national anthem! I find that disrespectful.

I agree that I don't see this happening anymore!!! Where I am from and living still, guys don't even think twice about removing their hats! They will simply walk into restaurants, fast food restaurants, and indeed even in church(if they do go, as they are self proclaimed gangsters, and don't need to go) they don't remove it!!

I think you are old fashion, and you should be very proud of it. Parents are not teaching their children respect any longer. This freedom of speak and do what you want is broken down families, neighborhoods, and countries. We no longer open doors, and say please and thank you. Respect....where did it go? I have been in a court room several times in the last 2 months for moral support of a friend, you should see what they are wearing. Kids are now wearing shorts to church, and they are telling their parents what they are going to do, and when they are going to do it. Things have changed, society has changed-but not all of it is to the good. Our fore-fathers, who wrote the Constition, did not write about freedom of speak for the purpose of being able to go and say what you think. They wrote it for regilious purposes and to give the common man a chance to have his say in certain governmental matters. Don't to go around and dump on everyone. for example: 1 person in a group of 250 says no to a certain regilous song....then there is no song....why is that person's rights not to hear that song more important than the other 249 people that does...George Washington and all the others there were writing this constition with morals, spirituality, and love for their fellow man. They would never dreamed of burning a American flag as a freedom of speak..so they didn't word the document with this in mine. We are forgetting God's main request and law for us...LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS YOU WOULD LOVE YOURSELF....simply love everybody just as you would want someone to love you. If you wouldn't want someone to steal your car, then don't steal theirs. If you don't want someone selling drugs to kids, then you don't sell drugs. Don't bring harm to someone if you don't want harm upon yourself. I am on soapbox. It was a real good questions, and I am so glad you gave us the chance to voice our opinions. Thank you for being old fashion, and I hope if you have children, you will raise them the same way.... God bless us all.........

YES, I agree- especially in church. In God's house repect needs to be shown. Doesn't make sense why the guys are keeping them on. What are they all bald, going bald or just having really bad hair days???? LOL Be the man & take them off....

It is not much of a problem where I live. You can write it off as southern hospitality I suppose. Those that do not remove their hats get fussed at promptly. I think it is very rude.

I agree wholeheartedly. My brother recently had two friends over for dinner. Both of them kept their hats on not only while eating, but while my dad was praying. I was in shock.

I can't answer you about anywhere else, but a male wearing a hat or cap during church is overboard...
