The only reason for me it's there to irriate the s**t out of subordiantes.

To 'move the goal posts' (my boss used to say to 'change the goal posts' which amused me).

Care to touch base with your most hated management speak phrase?

Where I work we play buzz word bingo. You have a whole list of "office talk" and get to cross it off once you say it in a meeting. You can only do it if a few of the meeting party know about it.

Try using ones like: Let's take it offline, just so we're all singing from the same hymm sheet, touch base, high level, helicoptor role ( means you're above it all and actually do nothing).

Yeah I agree with that sentiment, I think at its heart it seems fairly harmless, but it has a deeper problem attached to it which is the twisting of the english language, this has got out of control especially in the world of politics where lying is now know as spin this word has a lower emotional response, they know that and they write the speeches with it clearly in mind. Also people would understand better if they knew more about the origins of words and what they actually mean.

Because they can't admit when they are wrong and have too much spare time on their hands.
Lazy work shy fops the lot of them. Touch base is one of my least favourite. I also dislike the cheap Jedi mind trick of touching you on the arm or shoulder and asking you about something they know makes you happy.

Yes Mr/Mrs Creep thanks for making me think about my holiday but you weren't there that's why it was good, now go rot in a meeting that labours on the same point for several hours and let me do some real work, pr**k.

Let's run it up the flagpole and see which way it blows!
They think it makes them appear to be "IN". But it is just as stupid as those frekin stupid bluetooth ear pieces they wear to show how "connected" and "ready to network" they are.
That is why I became a consultant; they are still stupid b@ds but now the stupid b@rd is not my boss any more, he is my client!

It was invented so a lot of lame "writers" could try to inspire us with lame management books.
