I love surprises & today I got such a sweet surprise from my fiance. He ran some errands & when he came home, he put a greeting card where I would see it when I came out of the bathroom. I saw the card & stood with my mouth open. Now mind you, it's not he first time he has ever surprised me, but still, as I opened the card & read the verse, tears welled up inside my eyes. It was a "no special occasion" card but it had such a sweet message inside. It really made my day & I wanted to share it with you. :)

Since I've lived next to to my neighbour, (she's 78 now) we have exchanged Christmas and birthday cards, today she gave me a bottle of port as well as the usual card.
I said." Oh thank you, but you shouldn't be spending your money on me!"

She replied, "Don't worry I didn't, I won it on the bingo!"

Wasn't that sweet? lol

btw she really did win it! lol x

My husband offered me to go out for supper for my birthday treat, I don't really like eating out that much so I said I'd rather go and get fish and chips takeaway. That was so he had an excuse to get some too. He's diabetic and shouldn't eat them really, so he deserves a treat.
Anyway I thought I'd chance my arm, and I said to the fish man, it's my birthday today, do I get 10% discount now.

He said, " You must be joking, you can't be any more than 50-52!"

Oh I'm feeling so good now, I'd have paid double for my chips, I'm 57! lmao

Every where else has so much smut and people are just down right rude or nasty. The "newborn and baby" section is pretty o.k too.

A friend of mine who is from Vietnam and has had her parents here for at least ten years have been denied Medicare . The mother is very ill at the hospital and the DSS case worker tells her daughter that her mother who is 62 years old does not qualify for any benefits at all. You see all these babies having babies and getting all the benefits there are including housing and yet these elderly people have been told they don't qualify. The mother had Medicare before and it was cancelled and she was told it was a mistake and they should be quiet or would end up paying back all that money for all those years she was on medicare. I just don't understand. These people cannot work and are ill and their daughter is the only support they have. Please advice on this situation.

I stay pretty warm and my mom is always cold. The air conditioner does not come on until the afternoon or until she feels the heat. I let her have the power, but I think I am going to get an individual, portable air conditioner for my room! (sweating)

If your vacumn pipe is disconnected from the collection bag, you can work as hard as you like but the carpet won't get any cleaner?

No prizes for guessing how I know that!

most prized possession? the one you would do anything to save if your home was on (heaven forbid) fire. I don't mean family members or pets. Mine is a wonderful old Grandfather Clock that I just love to bits. Mind you I'd look a bonnie dearie trying to rescue a 7 ft clock while I'm only 5ft 3in. lol.

What is the instrument?
Was it a challenge?
Did you find it easy?
Do you still play?

I've always wanted to learn to play the piano, but as the house isn't big enough, thinking of keyboard instead.

My mom and I were riding today and I was trying to remember the sentence that you type for practice when you wanted to get your typing speed up. We thought and thought. I remembered only one word from the sentence. Then she finally remembered and she's 79 1/2!!!! Anyway, can you remember the well-known sentence that you would type over and over again for speed practice in school or typing school? In my youth, this would be done on the old Remington, Underwood, or IBM selectric typewriter, etc.

It was not How Now Brown Cow, that was for pronunciation practice.

Hi, my dad is in his sixties and he's been retired for about a year now. He lives with my grandma who's in her 80's. He's had hip surgery on both hips and stays home all day watching tv. Well recently he's mentioned that he's getting cabin fever, we all three go out to dinner and a movie once a week, but he wants to do other things too. However when I mention casinos he says he doesn't like the crowds. Any ideas what we can do on my days off?

One day God was looking down at Earth and saw all of the rascally behavior that was going on. So he called one of His angels and sent the angel to Earth for a time. When he returned, he told God, "Yes, it is bad on Earth; 95% are misbehaving and only 5% are not." God thought for a moment and said, "Maybe I had better send down a second angel to get another opinion." So God called another angel and sent him to Earth for a time too. When the angel returned he went to God and said, "Yes, it's true. The Earth is in decline; 95% are misbehaving, but 5% are being
good."God was not pleased. So He decided to e-mail the 5% who were being good, because He wanted to encourage them..give them a little something to help them keep going.
Do you know what the e-mail said? ...........
Okay, I was just wondering; I didn't get one either...

I am a little hard of hearing and a co-worker (who is known to gossip) came into my office to tell me something. She started whispering and I told her I couldn't hear so she got close to my ear. Still couldn't hear and by this time I didn't care and let her continue talking. At the end, she said "Now don't tell anyone." I told her "Don't worry, your secret is safe with me." I still don't know what she said. LoL

Has anyone ever experienced this?
