Is it a landscape. Or a still life. Maybe an abstract?

Young people treat the very people who gave them life and sustained them through their growing years as though now they must be patronized. They make you feel like you can't do anything for yourself or anyone else and that your thinking is suddenly salad. Why can't they believe we are still the same people we were before only in older bodies?

Mine is a bit of sadness at how young and in love they appear,in contrast with how their lives and their kid's lives really worked out.

My boyfriends elderly aunt has been cheated out of three homes and thousands of dollars by distant relatives who she thought cared for her. (they hung around her all the time until they got what they wnated_). At this point I don't know if she h;as any money left at all and she is getting more and more senile every day. What can we do to help her? (Her grandchildren adn sister probably won't have anything to inherit at this rate. I am also afraid that after they use her up they may wind up puting her in an old folks home, when actually she had enough money and property to be cared for at home for the rest of her life.

If you are still capable of pursuing that dream physically and mentally whats holding you back?

Every summer I make up my mind that THIS year I am going white water rafting and up in an air balloon .. and when fall comes around, I havent done it.

Anyone else need a kick in the butt to get themselves moving on those unfinished dreams? What's yours?

...rather than take care of them with the help of nurses/nursing assistants--at home?

My mom worked full time, hired a daytime nursing assistant for grandma, and cared for her herself after work. (Grandma & Grandpa always promised each other that they would never send each other to a home--or even a hospital--if not absolutely necessary, and they stuck to that--Mom stuck to their wishes, too, knowing how important it was to them).

He suffers from dementia and although we go to his house as often as possible, we have to work during the day...he has carers 3 times a day but there is still times when he is alone and he does things that are dangerous like turning the gas on and forgetting about it and sometimes he goes outside and then cant remember where he is or where he lives

My mum said they were having a fire drill at the nursing home and they left all of the patients in there rooms. Can you believe that? What are they going to do if there's a real fire, let all of them get burned up?

Today's custard can't touch it. My fave was lemon frozen custard. There use to be such a line coming out the door (a screen door at that) of the place on a nice summer night.

You got your oil checked, your windshields wiped, and gas pumped and S &H green stamps with a smile. I think they even put air in your tire if you needed it. You didn't have to get out of the car at all! I can still hear the sound of the hose that would ding as a car rode across it and into the station. I remember Esso and Sinclair (with the green dinosaur) gas stations. Sadly, no more service.

Background: Every year my mom has a family get-together with all her kids, grandkids, etc. For the last 4 years my brother hasn't gone. He says he'll be there and not shown up. Although it's bugged her, my mom won't say anything to him because she knows he won't tell her the reason he's not going. In the past 11 months, my sis-in-law has lost a daughter and been diagnosed with a disease that has a terrible prognosis.
She told me but made me promise not to tell my mom. The problem is, my mom wants to call sis-in-law and confront her about not coming to the family event. I told her that considering what she's been thru, she doesn't need the added stress. My mom knows she's sick but not full picture.
I have honored my sis-inlaw's request but I'm afraid my mom (who isn't known for her sensitivity) will regret confronting her. She may not even make it to Christmas with the diagnosis she's been given and I'm sure my mom will regret laying this guilt trip on her. Please, no rude answers.

And why, after a sale transaction, do you stand in the middle of the aisle to read the receipt or fix your handbag and hold up those who want to exit the store? I just wondered. Please don't take this question as an insult or me being critical, it is more of an observation.

I gave my son too much power. The way I was raised, mom and dad made all the decisions. I am an only child. I was not prepared for real life. I was so sheltered that when I finally had the chance to think for myself, I went wild!

I didn't want my son to be like me so I let him make too many decisions... like what to wear, where he wanted to go, etc. He was my best friend and I was his. Then he joined the navy and grew up while I wasn't around.

He is very independent, intolerate, impatient, and a tab inconsiderate of other people because I raised him to put himself first. He grew up to be a chemistry teacher, with a beautiful wife and two precious kids.

When I divorced his father, I didn't want to fight, so I left him everything including my son.

If I had it to do all over again I would have kicked out his father and kept the house and him.

I have recently begun to respond to questions in the Senior Category and while we know that Avatars do not reflect 'age', it is difficult to guess anyone's age. Based upon some of the questions and responses, it seems that the 'senior' age varies widely in this forum. I am just curious as to what you all believe is the 'age' for a senior. I am 54 and I don't feel or act or believe I am anywhere close to 'senior'. I don't plan to retire from teaching until they wheel me out of the school on a stretcher - I dance, I sing, I act, I still wear shorts, I don't have wrinkles, or reflect much of the wear and tear that they say I'm supposed to at my age. People have looked at me and guessed I'm about 39-45..I remember a lot of the past because I had family who lived to old age (97+) and I was very communicative with my relatives. I love rap, hip hop, pop, gospel, country - all kinds of music...so I'm just wondering when am I supposed to be considered a "Senior Citizen"? I feel blessed!

Sometimes I accidently hit the wrong button. I have arthritis in my hands and make mistakes. I think we should have the option to change our thumbs up or thumbs down. Do you ever make this mistake? Doesn't it drive you nuts when you hit the wrong button?
