Why are we listed in the section with Gays and Disabilities. Are we socially unacceptable or just not up to speed.

What? Don't people read the question? I just think we should not be relegated to a minority group. Heck we could have our own section. SENIORS UNITE!! Here comes the 60's again.

Maybe I'm just getting old and losing touch with society. This question was asked in Jest. Geesh how the world has changed when you have to consider minority rights when it's not an issue. Maybe it's that irrelevant sensitivity that masks the real issues.

Mimas what worries me is the loss of humor. I guess they never heard, "Say Good Night Gracie"
Who's on first?

* To your question:
It’s perplexing, They certainly didn’t ask me.
*To your comment:
In today’s society you really have to walk on eggshells to be PC. Seems like every minority group is out setting traps. Personally I am the proverbial “bull in the china shop” and I make few apologies.
*To All:
Lighten up!!

I don't know if the humour has gone out of society, but it has sure gone out of Yahoo Answers.
I answered one question with a well known punch line from many movies, and I received notice that I had violated community guidelines and that my answer had been removed. And I lost 11 points because of it.
The line wasn't racist or biased or bigotted or alluded to anything in a sexual or demeaning way. It was simply, merely a line to elicit a laugh.
So, yeah---what has happened to the humour? Yahoo is killing it one question and answer at a time!
As to our being under Cultures & Groups. You are absolutely right. Yahoo is pigeonholing us using their own form of discrimination. I think they are doing the same to the disabled people and the gays and lesbians as well though. None of those groups are a different CULTURE, which is what is implicitly implied from the category heading.
But who the heck do we complain TO? Have you EVER tried to elicit a response from Yahoo that wasn't related to a specific question or answer? I have, a couple of times, and received absolutely no response. Going through the "Tell us what you think" link at the bottom of this page doesn't work.
I don't know what to tell you...except that yahoo expects us to be good little sheep and do as we're told. The addiction of this site wore off for me a very long time ago. Maybe I will just make it official by not returning to Answers much in the future.

Sir I understand that you asked the question in jest but senior citizens are a group of their own, those of us who are not yet seniors, don't understand all of the problems even though I do understand a little bit better as before my parents passed I cared for them and they were seniors. But back to your answer, the only reason that I see is that the list is in alphabetical order.

I do not think that should be an issue. Everyone deserves equal treatment. Some even had the mentality to make love on corpses. I may agree to "just not up to speed"; if a person is unable to think and act on for their ownself, then they may need assistance until they're capable of helping themself and contribute to society.

Morning Caretaker, ( well I just got up anyway)
I understand what you are saying so please don't take offence but I don't agree with you.
People with disabilities and gays are just as important as the rest of us. No one should be thought of as socially unacceptable.
Besides, Don't you think it's quite nice that if people want to find us they have to search.
