Not since they were teenagers and real stick-in-the-muds! Since they both passed into their twenties, they have been coming back down to my level.

One is more mature than we are and one isn't.
Our 31 year old son was born serious and intense and has always been a true Gemini. Raising him was like raising twins. The funny part is that he married a Gemini, Only one year and one day separate them. They are like two peas in a pod.
Son #2 (28) has "sorta, kinda" grown up but seems to be the "he who has the most toys wins" type. There is nothing serious or intense about him. He is showing signs of maturity though--he has begun to live to to the meticulous Virgo.

Well... They Dang sure they think they are!
Mark Twain said something like, "When I was eighteen I couldn't understand how a person of my Father's position could be so ignorant. When I was 21, I couldn't imagine how he learned so much in such a short time."
The secret is to hold on till they come around to reality. It's harder now than in our day because they have more exposure to the sublime.
'Friends', In our day would we believe 3 boys and 3 girls could afford apartments and exist simply on their own friendship with not regards to work. Or, 'Father Knows Best.'
I remember an episode of 'Beverly Hills (zip code something) when the Father walked in on his daughter and her boyfriend tongue massaging each others throat while prone on the living room sofa. The story ended with him apologizing to his daughter for over reacting. Right.....
They're not more mature, they're just trying to find reality based on the mores given to them by peers and the Media. Hopefully they will come around but it do take patience.
You're not off-the-wall.

I'll be 70 in January and my "kids" are 51 47 41 and 40. I'm positive they are more mature than I am a lot of the time. Thing is, I dont care anymore. I'm having fun and if that means romping with the grandkids, so be it.

One daughter, 35, is still 19. The other, 33, has been 40 since she was 10.
I'm 60, and only mature when I absolutely must.

Definitely NOT :)~
My daughter is at 24, just now starting to show signs of hope; the 21 year old son, never, and the 18 year old is able to use bigger words only in scrabble :)~

No, but they have really matured since growing up & leaving home. They're husbands & fathers now & I'm so proud of them & their many accomplishments.

Two of mine are, the youngest and the oldest. It really makes me proud to know I can really count on them if need be.
