Short, but sweet question and yet one of those things we ALL worry about so much. Almost falls into the meaning of life category. Anyway, enough waxing philosophical.
For the NOW in your life.....work hard, but make sure it's something you enjoy. That was one thing that really kept me going. Was a career firefighter for 26yrs and absolutely LOVED the job and the camraderie I experienced. Wouldn't replace it for the world. Many of these guys (and gals) WERE family. I miss it a lot. But the time to retire came and my bod was getting too beat up.....at least I'm still in pretty good shape and close to a full head of hair with no gray.
If married, STAY married! The alternative is very, very expensive. Both in dollars and your relationship. If it's hopeless, don't dally.
Stay in shape or get in shape. Exercise, run, walk. The sooner you start the easier it'll be...and eat healthy. You don't have to deny yourself things.....just moderate them. You CAN have bacon and eggs just limit it to once a week or 2 weeks.
Put all you can into a retirement plan or two...You WILL get it back (unless you get divorced after a long marriage...I lost half of mine....lol).
Anyway, I'm rambling a bit. But the key to staying young is thinking and acting young. We all fear getting old....but it's something to embrace. Think of all the advantages...people naturally come to you for advice because you've likely experienced the same things they're just beginning to realize. You also convey trust, wisdom, knowledge and respect.
Besides, getting older sure beats the alternative!
And I almost forgot......starting to get that senior discount too! LOL
But being in the fire service is an early retirement career....I turn 56 next week.
Hope this helps.

If you understand the reason for living, there is nothing to fear. You just live each day the very best you can. Besides, Old age is something a person just can't understand until they get there. Sure there are down sides like aches, pains and senior moments, your body will no longer let you do some thing you used to enjoy, but your heart and your mind can be forever young and there is no other time in your life that you can have so many memories to cherish. Don't concern yourself with getting old, just make sure you make every day getting there, a great memory maker.

*old* is relative.....
I'm not yet a senior .. but by some definitions am in the early Middle aged years .. does it bother me ..??
mostly no... most of the time I give my age no thought.
Sometimes I feel like I am 110 and other times 10.
BUT how do you deal with it ? you accept it. the only time I REALLY stressed about getting old was when I was 19 and about to turn 20.. for some reason that freaked me out.
Having my body feel it's age IS a little of a concern ( ie NOT the wrinkles and grey hair .. I'm actually beginning to appreciate those) .. the aches and the pains .. but hey ,, I'll deal with them too :)
Just LIVE your life.. see pleasure in the simple things .. allow yourself to express the child that still lies within ( no matter our age) and to also the grace that can come with age.
I am 43. Going on 92 or 11 depending on the mood/day

There's nothing wrong with growing older if you keep a positive attitude to life. Ok you might slow down a bit cos your body parts wear and get a few aches and pains, but you learn to live with that.
At the moment though, you are hopefully still strong and healthly. You won't be though! you have to tell yourself, you're working your self up to get ulcers, a heart attack or a stroke because of your fears.
Look around you, you must see some older folk out enjoying life, it can happen for you too as you mature. So go on! release yourself from your fear, no one else can do it for you, as much as I wish I could personally.
Your q touched my heart cos my only child died at your age, which of course devasted me and his dad. It took a long time for us to move on with our lives and laughter is the way that has helped me through our loss. So I'd love to think, that somewhere in this world there is another lad of 33 who can have many more years of happy life.
Please try to rid yourself of the negativity of age, think positive is my motto. The best is yet to come. x

It's good that you are thinking. Here's My take on it. Everyone who lives a long time, gets old. nobody misses out, unless they die young . Would you rather have that? no?
Then you don't have to worry about "getting " old.
When you are 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, and so on... you will still FEEL the same inside, you are ageless, all it is, is a passing of years taking you toward the next step. What ever that may be.
Before you were born, you were "somewhere" after death you will be "somewhere". it's like waiting for your next vacation, you plan it, enjoy the planning stages, then...have your vacation. you don't know what to expect when you go on vacation do you? life is like that too, you enjoy the planning to get where you're going for your next "adventure" do you understand what I'm trying to tell you? It's all good. don't worry just enjoy your life and take what comes as another adventure.( I'm 65)

I wasn't afraid of getting old more than I was afraid of not being able to continue to do the things I want to do. Like hearing, seeing, and walking. But so far, I am hanging in there and I am 57. It is just a number. My spirit is 33 years old. Lol Often I have to remember what I look like on the outside and behave myself, I am so young in spirit.
Don't worry about it. At 33, you are just a babe.

You are 33? Believe me the best is yet to come. Enjoy, enjoy and enjoy. I wouldn't want to be 33 again for anything in the world. I like me right where I am at 51.

I have had a little friend for years now,I met him when he was 24 and he was sure he was going to be old when he turned 25. I still hear from him years later and he sends me pictures and asks me how he looks. His bad vibes came from his mom and dad getting a divorce and both married new ones younger than he was--it really bothered him--he is OK and still looks great and I tell him every time he sends me pics. You will be fine my dear, just hold your head up and get on with it!!

I on no account became as i continuously theory that being all became kinda cool. you may have carried out maximum of issues on your life that looking back you may have impressive memorys. you're optimistically married and are spending something of your life with an amzing guy. additionally you have got teenagers and staring at your guy or woman flesh and blood create and grow to be there very own guy or woman could be impressive. Then whilst they had teenagers you would be a grandparent and in basic terms think of how proud you would be. i think of growing to be all gracefully could be something it rather is embraced too. yet then you somewhat see i watched the workstation and the couple had an exceptionally outstanding life jointly and then she have been given out timers (can't spell it sorry!) and he had to tell her what they did of their life standard for her purely to keep in mind for a jiffy. i think of that would desire to be coronary heart breaking. I then theory that each and each physique the ailment which you will get and to pass by something like that would desire to be undesirable so as that positioned me off growing to be older. additionally what approximately whilst your love dies? I doubt that i'd desire to attend to that at such an previous age. So now i'm torn. it rather is a fact of life in spite of the undeniable fact that and one i assume i visit hug despite happens. For greater advantageous or worse..
