I stay pretty warm and my mom is always cold. The air conditioner does not come on until the afternoon or until she feels the heat. I let her have the power, but I think I am going to get an individual, portable air conditioner for my room! (sweating)

That is too funny. Yes we do. My mother is always cold. I'm always hot. We found a amicable medium in the winter. We keep the heat on 68 all the time no matter what. We do not touch it. If she gets cold, she has a small electric heater in her room that she turns on while she's in there watching TV. She also got into the habit of wearing sweats and flannel shirts when she gets cold also. Took me a long time to talk her into trying them but now that she has, she loves them. I live upstairs and keep the vents closed and the door shut so I can open my windows in the winter to let in the fresh air. The summer is not too bad. She has fans as she did not want an air conditioner and I have an air conditioner in my room and one in my son's room.

When my father was still alive, he was putting the furnace on in the house if the outside temperature dropped below 68 degrees Fahrenheit. It got to be really ridiculous during the last summer that he was alive. I finally reverted to blowing out the pilot light on the furnace, and refused to light it back up as long as the warm weather lasted. It wouldn't have been so bad for the rest of us, if he would only have consented to putting on a sweater when he was cold, but he always insisted on the furnace as a first line of defense.

So just be glad your Mom hasn't done the same as this, and actually turned the heat on when she is personally cold.

Oh yes! DH calls me his little portable heater because I am always hot and he is always just right or cold. I'd love to have the bedroom window open all year round (because he snores less when it's open). He likes it shut all winter.

I'd love to keep the heat off all winter and just bundle up in sweaters and warm clothing. He loves to put on the heater and there we go with the dratted winter itch.

I loved the old electric blanket where each side could be controlled separately.

My soon to be ex always had the heat on and I was having hot flashes. in the winter, or air on all day and night in the summer. Not anymore, now I can throw all the windows open and enjoy the natural air. I put it on 80 in the summer and and don't turn it on till it hits about 95 outside, and in the winter it stays on 75 if its below 50 outside.

No thermostat war at our house. The central air runs all the time, (except when fall & winter roll in, here in the south) at a temp that we both agree on. Lately, it's been 100 degrees & over, so we adjusted the temp just a bit to make it a bit more comfy. In the winter, neither of has "thermostat-itis." You'd be better off to get your own window a/c for your room.

I think it has something to do with hormones. Since I became menopausal I have been cold more often. I also have lower blood pressure than most people, that makes me cold too.

We have your same problem in our office. Half wear spaghetti strap tops and the other half wear sweatshirts. It seems to be easier to bundle up than to take off more clothes.... here anyway! (wink) So we keep it cold and the rest of us have individual heaters under our desks. Good luck.

Not a problem. I live alone, so no. What I do, however, because air becomes stagnant before the AC comes on, is I have fans running. I keep the AC on 80, use fans. Works for me.

No. My cat doesn't say much. When I was married, my wife liked it cooler, so I just put on a long sleeved shirt.
