Someone wins a $16M lottery, here in Canada it is handed to you ALL AT ONCE and then says "I'm not going to quit my minimum wage job and all I am planning on doing is buying a new mattress because I have back problems."

Or the people that win and DONT share with their families in need? I know one person who won $2M and his cousin, a single parent, doesnt use drugs, or drink, was living on the street with her two kids. He didnt give her one cent. He could have at least paid for a couple of months rent for her. Back then it would have been about $1000.00

I think God made a "little note" in his book over that one.

I do. Sometimes they are irritating! I found an article if you are interested. Do floaters or spots ever just appear in your vision?

talk to their wives? A young couple I know were driving down a country road, after they had a terrible fight. As they passed a farm with cows, mules, pigs and goats, the husband says sarcastically; Relatives of yours? Yep the wife replies wryly. There're my in laws.

I guess what I'm asking is do you think we as people give them the respect they deserve, help them when they need it out in public places among other things. Think about your grandparents how do you think people treat them when they go out into society.

My grandmother a dear countrified woman taught me to identify it as a child. I would be sent to pick it and bring it home. She cooked it twice otherwise I think it could make you sick.
She was also the one who told me as achild in poverty they had actually possum but only when nothing else was available...and it was too greasy.
I'd like to learn the proper name for the plant I call Poke Salad. It grows up to 6 feet has a reddish stalk and black to dark purple berries. You do not eat the berries. Just the leaves. Best when young and tender.

....that it would be okay to just give them money? I was thinking of getting a loan so I could give each of them $10,000. I only have 5 grandchildren (aged 2 to 7), and I really want them to love me. Good idea? Thanks so much for your help.

Like hushpuppies it is a southern name or a rural country raised persons word for a tasty morsel.
I know from at least one answer that I'm not the only person raised on them.
Only my 2 oldest children grew up eating them.
I think too many people associate hoe cake with poverty.
I hope we can explain what it is and how to make them so our friends from around the world can make them and let us know what they think about them.

I mean the ones that they sold in the mid-to-late 50s. They were well build and heavy. We loved watching the trains go round and round.

I am over 60 and still work 30 hrs a week because I choose to. I couldn't bear to be at home all the time. I work in a filling station and I count and bank all the cash, serve customers, supervise fuel deliveries and am a general dogs body and I love it.
Do you still work? if so what do you do and do you enjoy it?

Our rainy weather cleared enough for the Shuttle Launch! Discovery STS-112 went off a few minutes ago. It was a beautiful to see, even from 50 miles away. The sky was very blue and the shuttle was clearly visible for several minutes.

These clocks have been around since the mid 1930s and are still being made today. Here is the history of them:

For some reason, that song just popped into my head. My mom use to play the radio when she was getting ready for work, and I learned a lot of pop tunes when I was a kid.

I hope I am mistaken. My son in law from Wisconsin hadn't a clue about grits or hushpuppies before he came south to visit. Unfortunately my son ordered his b-i-l some in a restaurant and we didn't butter and salt them up for him. He was a stranger to the delightful flavor of a hushpuppie also. In fact had never heard of them. Do folks across the big pond have any experience on these dining delights.

Before someone has a "thrombie" (that is also a winge in South Africa). I am NOT asking for what;- country, city, State or anything else. I would just like to know "IF" you want to share what your children's names are. You DON'T have to answer this if you feel it is too personal.. FIRST NAMES ONLY. Mine are Joanna, Kirsten and Justine.
