Would You Like Some Good News From The California Fires?

There's a gentleman who lives in a small town east of San Diego. He had his 98th birthday in July. I was concerned about his safety and just learned he is safe and has moved in with his grand-daughter since there was no power at his home.
BTW, his name is John Finn. He's the last surviving Medal of Honor winner from the Pearl Harbor attack!

Do you watch Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe?

He searches out and actually does (for as long as he can stand it) some of the dirtiest jobs in the US. I'm not sure they could pay me enough to do his job. I guess the point is, somebody has to do every nasty, dirty job there is to be done and we should appreciate the fact that someone does it so we don't have to. Are there any dirty jobs you just couldn't do?

Do you recycle scrap paper, any kind of paper really, and use it for notes?

What can or should I do?

My dad has Parkinson's Disease. He has told us that he believes that within a few months he will no longer be able to speak. His speech isn't very good now. I received an email from him the other day saying that he will not be alive for more than two years. He has also told my mom this. I know that he gets depressed at times which is understandable. Is he just being realistic or is he maybe looking forward to an end of the disease? So, my guestion is..... what should I do? Do I just accept that this is his wish or do I push him to live?

Have you ever had Apple Cheddar Pizza with Toasted Pecans?

Apple Cheddar Pizza With Toasted Pecans

1 can (12 oz.) refrigerated pizza dough
Vegetable oil cooking spray
3 large apples, thinly sliced
1 cup apple juice
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
2 Tbsp. honey
1/4 cup chopped, toasted pecans
1 cup grated white cheddar cheese
Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees F. Lightly coat 14-inch pizza pan with cooking spray. Press dough into pizza pan.
Cook apples in apple juice until tender. Drain off juice and reserve. Place apple slices on dough. Dissolve cornstarch in apple juice, cinnamon and honey. Cook over medium heat until clear. Spread sauce over apples. Sprinkle pecans on top. Top with cheese. Bake for 15-20 minutes.
Serves 8. Preparation and cooking time: 40 minutes

In my opinion Trolls are people who are so low in self-esteem?

that the only way they can get any satifaction in life is to demean other people. For the way they think, act, answer questions, ask questions and so on. Trolls can't poke fun at themselves like normal healthy people do, because it makes them look small in their own eyes, therefore they think all people look at them that way. What is your opinion?

Why, when I come onto Answers, does my mind go completely blank?

I always thought I was reasonably well educated, fairly bright and with a wealth of experience to share with others after spending 62 years on this planet.
How wrong I was! I have just scoured loads of categories (I am on hols after all) to try and be helpful and informative and I cannot come up with anything halfway useful to say! Am I just having a 'Senior Moment' or am I as useless and brain dead as I feel?

Who else is sick of ? (and to all the..."wheres the question" brigade, go back to the first few words of this)

All the petiness thats comming from "other" sources.... I know it sounds like I am over reacting....but, when I first came across the Senior section it was when I was just about to stop comming on Y/A altogether because I was sick of encountering a lot of stupid and sick individuals, I got to realise I just did not want to be subjected to that sort of thing, I firmly believe being involved in so much negativity is so bad for anyone, so I was'nt going to put up with it no longer....and like I said, I found the Seniors, I was so pleased, because there was so many lovely people on this..... but now all the patheticness of other users comming over and aiming their childish spite has spoilt it....our life can be stressful enough with all the things we have to deal with in our Day to Day life without adding to it by comming on here to put up with more....I am a very sensitive person, can't help it, it's the way I am, I hate being misunderstood, and that happens on here with just .........

Are you sorry you did not have the time?

For those of us who had to work. I am so sorry I never had the time to stay home and make jams (jello?), and do more baking than I did. Although I managed a lot anyway. But not like our grandmothers were able to do.

Seniors. What are your favourite fruits?

I just love all the berrie family except gooseberries. Kiwi fruit is great and high in Vitamin C. I like to put oranges into the blender skin and all, with apples and yogurt and honey and some seeds, like poppie, and some nuts. I have a "thing" about biting into apples. I just can't do it. Bananas,Papaya, mangoes, are all among my favourites. And grapes.
