Personally, I love the ones at restaurants! They all seem to work, require minimal clean up on my part, and do a decent job of getting me fed. I suppose I ain't much of a cook. I hate cooking and worse, I hate cleanup! So much work that just goes down the toilet (another idiom that I could have posted, but didn't come to mind until I read this....love to ya, Lady G, Phil

My favorite appliance is the electric coffee pot. Which I use a lot. But I can do without it because I'm a camper and I do make coffee even when I camp. Well, I cheat really. I buy the individual coffee bags. Sort of like the tea bags but for coffee. They are great especially when deep woods camping. But on a cold rainy morning one doesn't want to really hang around a stove waiting to make coffee. So these little coffee bags come in just handy at the right time. Bring some water to a boil and presto. Awesome way to begin a nice cold rainy morning. Coffee anyone? LOL

I'd be lost without most of the appliances and gadgets in my kitchen, from the cooker and fridge down to the kettle and teapot, but they're all replaceable (at a price!).
The one thing I've not seen a possible replacement for is my little kitchen knife, I've had it for years and use it several times every day, it fits very comfortably in the hand and it's like a trusty old friend. I'd feel utterly lost without it.
I thought I had lost it once and went mad turning the whole house upside down until I found it, where a certain someone had hidden it - he never done that again! hell hath no fury and all that!

Well a coffee pot is not really a gadget, but I wouldn't part with it, although I have made coffee in a pan on the stove in the past. (it wasn't very good, but anything in a pinch)
Gadget: This little rubber thing that grips all sizes of bottle and jar lids. I can open them now with ease!

The wife, as long as she's in the kitchen everything gets done with the minimum effort in the right way. Not real hard on the electricity bill either. (Course that Chinese tea swap does turn the head a bit).

I also got one of those new battery can openers.....what a Godsend! And although these aren't considered a kitchen gadget, I now leave a pair of scissors out on the counter so that I can just cut into bags of cereal, chips, ect. No more having to fight my way into all those "easy open" packages!

China Cap - Colander - Strainers - Juicer - Crock Pot - Pepper Mill - My Griddle(notice how I said 'my' griddle LOL) - Loads of Bread Pans (great for more than just bread!!) - Food Processor -
And those white plastic spatulas that are called Spoonulas because they have a semi-flexible rubber spoon at the end (great for scraping inside jars , and mixing too!!)

I cannot recall the name of this thing I got it on QVC. It looks kinda like a huge toe nail clipper. LOL. But seriously it helps you get hot things out of the microwave or oven. It grips the side of the bowl or pan..it helps with items up to 2 pounds. It is a God send for me as I have week hands and wrists. We joke how it really looks like a toe nail clipper. It just came out this year in the spring at the big Chicago food expo. Great item.
