Not knowing the time table, couldn't say. Do believe we are making forward progress in an eternal struggle, and hope that before too long we can get it down to a much smaller playing field.

The government is. The people aren't. Despite the death of thousands here and more off-shore in terrorist attacks, the people are still totally unaware of their surroundings. There has been no national effort by the public, either in schools or through other means, to learn what the terrorists are all about and why they wish us dead. The media are co-conspirators in this because they use words to describe the terrorists which have no meaning. Words like "militant" and "insurgent", trying desperately to be "politically correct" and not offend Muslims. But, all the media have to do is to point out that the Salafist Jihadists who are the enemy in this war are the Ku Klux Klan of Islam. No one holds all Protestants responsible for the Klan.
I fear it will take another attack within the homeland to get many members of the Ostrich Society to remove their heads from the sand and not waggle the finger of blame in the aftermath. The person to blame can be easily identified by looking in a mirror.
The source below is a 160-page book that gives great insight into the enemy's thought processes and beliefs. It is the "Mein Kampf" of the Salafist Jiahdist movement and is finally available in English. Every adult should read it.

To be honest I am not certain exactly what the US goals are specifically....other than to erradicate terrorism [which will never be accomplished IMHO - it's like trying to erradicate anger]

I do not believe that the US is utilizing other methods available such as stretching enough to truly understand other cultures.

PLEASE folk, do not misunderstand me on the above sentence...I am not saying that the feats and goals of groups like Al Qaeda are 'understandable' - however in the larger picture I do think westerners are woefully miseducated on the Muslim faith as a whole.

I really am not qualified to answer this--in my opinion something had to be done, it is unfortunate that all of this junk comes from a group of countries that have been sniping at each other for years. After the strikes they made to the US that were ignored I feel we had to jump up and say enough is enough. Now I am confused as to the path the conflict is on.

If the goal is to squander our military resources on a pointless war while the terrorists run free, then I'd say yes!

I do not believe we had the right to do it the way we did. Yes I believe we needed to fight back somehow but am very confused about how we could have handled it better. Sure hope the powers that be figure it out soon and bring our men home.

They think they are. I think they are not doing a good job at all. I think President Bush does not know what he is doing, and it has gotten out of hand.
