I am over 60 and still work 30 hrs a week because I choose to. I couldn't bear to be at home all the time. I work in a filling station and I count and bank all the cash, serve customers, supervise fuel deliveries and am a general dogs body and I love it.
Do you still work? if so what do you do and do you enjoy it?

When you say you bank all the cash is that in your own personal account or do you have to give it back to your employers, yes I know but I can dream cant I? I thought I had found the perfect women, out all day, and rich with it, but sadly I reread the question and it seems you are just a work slave with a dogs body. Sad that I was ready to propose as well( no dear not marriage just a joint account)

Hi SusieQ - no I don't work because I lost my job through illness about 18 months before I retired. I have fibromyalgia so I couldn't work if I wanted to. I love being at home all the time - there is always plenty to do and I can do what I want when I want! I met my now husband just 4 years ago, although he is not retired he works from home most of the time so I have the best of both worlds!

I am 54, not 60 just yet., but I"m sure I may still be out there when I hit my 60's. I'm glad for you that you have the gumption to keep going. BOY, I have days that just knock me for a loop.I work in a nursing home. Feel like I need to be two people sometimes. I laugh sometimes when I see the answers some people get when youngins see that they are in their 50's or 60's. Like we are ancient beings, ha ha ha. wait until they get there. they will see that even though the body ages, you are still that same person, you know what I mean. have a great day!

I am retired, aged 62. I look after my 2 yr old grandson one and a half days a week and the other grandchildren come to me for tea every afternoon after school.
I love the freedom not having to go out everyday at a given time.
I enjoy drinking a cup of coffee and being able to do the crossword instead of gulping it down before the bell went and I had to rush back to class.
Friends call in for coffee, we go out quite a lot and can shop at our leisure instead of having to rush to do it at weekends.
Luckily we do not need to work for financial reasons, but we find that when you are at home you don't need to dress up all the time and you can cook real food rather than buying ready prepared foods or eating out so frequently.
In other words, I like being retired.

My Husband and I are 66 and retired at 62.

Although I still work a seasonal job part time from December
till June. Maybe 25 to 30 hours a week at most.
It is perfect. I control my own hours and get paid mileage for all my driving. Plus an acceptable salary to add to retirement.

Good for you! Working because you want to is a very good thing.

I am now 66, retired at 64. The casino made me an offer for early retirement that was just too too good to turn down.

I had been in their surveillance dept for the last 6 years of my casino career. That dept is hard on the nerves, as the whole casino needs to be watched. I was glad to leave all that behind.

No I do volunteer stuff, and hobby stuff. I am happy. Have enough to do that keeps me going.

I retires at 62 so I could care for an ill husband who could not be left alone. I am now 65 and don't regret it. Hubby still has bad days with a few good days, but at least he is still here. I was a nurse and could still go back to work but because he is ill I still can't. I miss work,I miss the socialization, and all my friends are still working. Money is tighter, although we have not wanted for anything. It's nice going to bed at 1am and not worry about getting enough sleep and getting up for work. I have lots of hobbies, I crochet, knit, love to read, and love late nite tv, I'm never bored!

been retired for a little over a year now. the way the set up is where I live if I worked and received a paycheck the retirement home would get whatever wages I make. so I never will work again and I really enjoy the retired life.

I just turned "61" & I am no longer working. I retired early due to a botched foot surgery. I have had corrective surgery on it but it will never be the same. I would love to work but can't be on my feet very long. I may apply for a job at my youngest granddaughter's school, as an office aide.
